On the evening of September 24, U17 Nam Dinh entered the final of the National U17 Tournament - Thai Son Nam Cup 2025 for the first time after defeating U17 The Cong - Viettel 4-3 in the penalty shootout (1-1 draw in 90 minutes), of the semi-final match held at Ba Ria Stadium.
Before the match, U17 The Cong - Viettel was the team that was rated higher thanks to its systematic youth training foundation. Meanwhile, Nam Dinh Club has only recently rebuilt its youth training system.
The match also showed that, when U17 The Cong - Viettel dominated the game and organized many dangerous attacks.
In the 22nd minute, Viet Duc crossed the ball inside for Dai Nhan to jump high and head the ball to open the score for U17 The Cong - Viettel. Four minutes later, Dinh Vy missed a golden opportunity when his shot hit the crossbar.
But U17 Nam Dinh also proved dangerous with sharp and quick counter-attacks. As a result, in the 27th minute, Van Tuan had a beautiful long-range shot from 20 meters away, equalizing 1-1 for U17 Nam Dinh.

In the second half, the game was more balanced. U17 The Cong - Viettel had many clear chances but strikers like Dai Nhan and Manh Cuong failed to take advantage of them. Meanwhile, U17 Nam Dinh only stopped with a few dangerous chances.
Neither team scored another goal after 90 minutes of play, forcing the match to be decided by a penalty shootout. Showing more courage, U17 Nam Dinh won 4-3 to advance to the final.
In the previous semi-final, defending champion U17 Hanoi beat U17 SHB Da Nang 2-1. Manh Quan scored to put U17 Hanoi ahead in the 17th minute, but U17 SHB Da Nang equalized 1-1 in the 48th minute thanks to Tin Tin.
The turning point of the match came in the 72nd minute, when Anh Quan let the ball touch his hand in the penalty area. On the 11m mark, Manh Quan did not miss the opportunity to score, raising the score to 2-1 for U17 Hanoi.
Thus, U17 The Cong - Viettel and U17 SHB Da Nang both won the bronze medal after stopping at the semi-finals. Meanwhile, U17 Nam Dinh will meet U17 Ha Noi in the final match taking place at 4pm on September 26 at Ba Ria Stadium.
