In a video posted on the Futeboteco channel, journalist Rodolfo Gomes claimed that Neymar is “addicted to whisky mixed with energy drinks, smoking shisha and only going to bed at 4-5am”. Gomes also believes that these habits are negatively affecting the Santos team, causing training sessions to be postponed to suit the 33-year-old player personally.

In addition, Gomes also confirmed that new Santos coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda is considering adjusting the training schedule earlier as a way to "indirectly expose Neymar's problem".

These statements were quickly spread by a number of Brazilian newspapers, creating a wave of debate around Neymar - a star who always attracts attention every time he appears in the media.

Under pressure from public opinion, Neymar's representative company, NR Sports, immediately issued a statement denying all allegations, calling these statements "irresponsible, slanderous, defamatory and untrue". They affirmed that they are conducting legal procedures to "hold those involved civilly and criminally responsible".

Neymar, for his part, opted for a mild response on social media. On Instagram, he posted a picture of an energy drink can with the caption: “Addicted to Red Bull. This is great,” along with a winking face emoji, as if to mock the accusations directed at him.

Neymar is currently being treated for a muscle injury and will not be able to play until November.

The embarrassing defeat made Neymar cry. In the early morning of August 18, in the 20th round of the Brazilian National Championship, Santos suffered the biggest defeat in the club's history when they were crushed by Vasco da Gama with a score of 0-6 at Morumbis Stadium.
