Laos coach praises overseas Vietnamese star of U23 Vietnam

Vietnam U23 has just finished the opening match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship with a 3-0 victory over Laos. There are a few negative points in the playing style of the team led by coach Kim Sang-sik, but there are also many positive points. Van Khang and Dinh Bac played effectively, especially the mark of Viktor Le.

This midfielder appeared in the second half and immediately helped the U23 Vietnam attack become brighter. He moved, created space for his teammates and "designed" the attacks. Coach Ha Hyeok-jun of Laos also highly appreciated Viktor Le. After the match, he praised the Vietnamese-American midfielder. "He has great potential to become a star of Vietnamese football in the future."

The Korean coach also admitted that there is a big gap between the two teams, as Vietnam is a much stronger and more systematic team. “U23 Vietnam is very strong and has a well-developed system. We have tried and in the coming time, we hope to improve our ability further.”

The recent defeat also caused Laos to lose hope of advancing. They have completed the group stage of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament. In the final match, if Vietnam wins Cambodia by 4-0 or more, coach Ha Hyeok-jun and his team will finish the tournament in 2nd place in Group B.
