Support 200 tons of rice for 14 localities affected by storm No. 3

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc has just signed Decision No. 953/QD-TTg dated September 10, 2024 of the Prime Minister to provide rice from the national reserve to support 14 localities affected by storm No. 3 in 2024.

Specifically, the Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Finance to issue 200 tons of rice from the national reserve without charge to the Ministries of Public Security and National Defense (each Ministry 100 tons of rice) to provide relief to people in the following localities: Lao Cai, Hoa Binh, Son La, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son affected by storm No. 3 in 2024.

The Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Ministry of Public Security shall handle specifically according to regulations.

The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense to proactively work directly with the Ministry of Finance to organize the reception of national reserve goods in accordance with regulations; direct functional units to actively and proactively coordinate with the above localities to urgently organize relief aid to ensure timely, appropriate needs, objects, and norms according to regulations, avoiding loss and waste.

The Ministries of Finance and National Defense, according to their assigned functions and tasks, are responsible for the accuracy, basis, information, and data of proposed reports.

Storm No. 3 and its circulation caused heavy rain over a wide area in the North, especially in the mountainous and midland provinces of the North, causing great damage to life and property, seriously affecting production and people's lives.

In order to quickly stabilize production and people's lives, not to let anyone go hungry, cold, homeless, without clean water, without medical care, and for students to go to school soon, yesterday (September 9, 2024), the Prime Minister also requested the Minister of National Defense and the Minister of Public Security to direct functional units to actively and proactively coordinate with localities affected by storm No. 3 to urgently transport food, provisions, dry rations, instant noodles, necessities, drinking water, clean water... to provide to people in isolated areas, people lacking food, provisions and necessities... in the fastest time possible.
