On the evening of October 19, Buakaw Banchamek faced off against Kouzi Tanaka (Japan) in a 70kg boxing match at the Martial Arts EXPO event in the land of the rising sun. After 3 rounds, due to no knockout, the match ended in a draw. However, according to comments from Japanese fans quoted by Sanook , Buakaw was slightly better in this match when he threw a series of punches at Kouzi Tanaka and pressured the Japanese boxer.
Kouzi Tanaka surprised everyone with his provocative statement after his fight with Buakaw Banchamek: “ To all the fighters, I don’t use steroids or anything (referring to boxer Minoru Kimura, who tested positive for a banned substance). I want to lose quickly. Can someone please come here and beat me?”.

" Even Buakaw, who is considered the strongest boxer in the world , can't do anything to me. Now I think only Floyd Mayweather Jr. is left. I want a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr," Kouzi Tanaka declared.
Kouzi Tanaka's statement has caused a big surprise to Japanese fans. Before the match, the Japanese boxer attracted attention by smoking a cigar in the press conference and defiantly declaring that he would defeat the Thai boxer.
“There was cigarette smoke in my face and there were a lot of sarcastic comments that the translator translated for me, but I didn’t care. I just cared about fighting in the ring,” Buakaw told Japanese press after his draw with Kouzi Tanaka.

“ I’m not angry with Kouzi Tanaka because I think he just wanted to get the fans excited and interested in the fight, but I was surprised by what happened. Because it was the first time I saw my opponent come into a press conference and smoke a cigar. I thought Kouzi Tanaka was just acting, but when he was in the ring, he was full of fighting spirit ,” Buakaw added.
Kouzi Tanaka (35 years old) is a famous kickboxer in Japan, the champion of ISKA K-1 World Lightweight 2017. During his career, Kouzi Tanaka won 31 out of 51 kickboxing matches. This boxer also had 1 win and 1 loss when he moved to MMA.
