Ho Chi Minh City Mixed Martial Arts Federation has a replacement for president Liu Xiu Bao.

The Ho Chi Minh City Mixed Martial Arts Federation (HMAAF) has appointed a replacement for president Liu Xiu Bao - who has been out of contact for more than half a year after moving to the US.

Following the Vietnam Boxing Federation (VBF) agreeing to authorize the management to Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung - Vice President and General Secretary of VBF, the Ho Chi Minh City Mixed Martial Arts Federation (HMMAF) also did the same while waiting for official information about President Luu Tu Bao.

Mr. Luu Tu Bao is currently the President of the Vietnam Boxing Federation (VBF) for the second term (2023 - 2028), President of the Ho Chi Minh City Mixed Martial Arts Federation (HMMAF) for the first term (2022 - 2027) and was the CEO of Saigon Sports Club (SSC) - one of the leading martial arts clubs in Ho Chi Minh City.

However, Mr. Liu Xiu Bao has been absent from Vietnam for more than half a year, not directly managing the activities of the federations. This has caused a stir in public opinion and unofficial information about Mr. Bao's involvement with international criminal organizations.

After receiving instructions from the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City to report information about Mr. Liu Xiu Bao's loss of contact, HMMA held an online Executive Committee Meeting on September 8 with the presence of 9/15 members.

The conclusion of the Standing Committee and Executive Committee of HMMAF is no different from that of the Vietnam Boxing Federation (VBF): Mr. Luu Tu Bao went to the US for family matters from February 2025 and had to deal with some personal matters so he could not return to Vietnam for the time being.

Mr. Luu Tu Bao will sign the authorization document to manage the activities of HMMAF for Ms. Do Thi Thu Trang - Vice President of the Federation - in accordance with the provisions of the HMMAF's Charter of Activities approved by the Department of Home Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City. The time from receiving the authorization document until the end of March 2026.

During the time when the authorization letter from the President has not been received, the Standing Committee and the Executive Committee of HMAAF unanimously delegate the executive authority to Ms. Do Thi Thu Trang. Ms. Thu Trang is also the representative of HMMAF in statements.

HMMAF said that up to this point, the Federation has not received any official notification from the authorities about the personal activities of President Liu Xiubao in the past, or during the time he was not in Vietnam.

Mr. Luu Tu Bao's personal and judicial records have been confirmed by the Ministry of Justice . The Federation has sent documents as required to the Department of Home Affairs and the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City before he ran for the HMMAF Executive Committee for the first term (2022-2027).

The Standing Committee and the Executive Committee of HMAAF agree that in the case of President Liu Xiu Bao personally, if there is an official conclusion from domestic and international authorities about a violation of the law, the Federation will hold a conference to request permission to hold an extraordinary congress and elect a new president, ensuring the smooth direction and implementation of all activities of HMMAF in accordance with legal regulations.

In November, HMMAF plans to organize a referee and coach training course and organize the HCMC MMA Club Championship.
