Accordingly, first, ninth and twelfth graders will return to school on August 22 at the earliest, while the remaining grades will return on August 28. The return of students in the province will closely follow the 2025-2026 school year plan timeframe issued by the Ministry of Education and Training.
For the opening day of the new school year 2025-2026, educational institutions in the province will simultaneously open on the morning of September 5, according to the general opening schedule nationwide.
The 2025-2026 school year is the first school year after the province's merger. With a total of about 1.2 million students, Dong Nai is also among the provinces and cities with the largest number of students in the country, just after Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The 2025-2026 school year is also the first year that students from grades 1 to 12 study according to the new 2018 General Education Program.
To ensure the opening ceremony and the new school year 2025-2026 are well organized, especially in the context of strong decentralization of education management to the commune level, the Department of Education and Training has advised the Provincial People's Committee to guide communes to speed up the progress of putting newly built, renovated and upgraded schools into use, guide the recruitment of teachers, appoint new and re-appoint managers, and carry out procedures for investing in purchasing equipment for teaching and learning.
In addition, the Department of Education and Training continues to direct educational institutions to create the best conditions for students who are children of officials and civil servants of the old Binh Phuoc province to move to the new Dong Nai province center to work, quickly stabilize and get used to the new learning environment.
