Replicating the boarding school model in Xuan Loc commune

Huynh Van Nghe Primary and Secondary School was established in August 2024 with socialized resources and is a pioneer in implementing the semi-boarding teaching model in Xuan Loc commune. The school currently has 20 classrooms and 5 subject rooms, serving both primary and secondary school students.

However, the school currently has nearly 550 primary school students with 17 classes, so some empty classrooms are used as a lunch break for boarding students. The advantage of the school is that it receives close attention and direction from the local government and consensus from parents. Thanks to that, 100% of primary school students can participate in boarding school. They are arranged a place to rest, ensuring both health and practicing living habits.

Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Ha, Vice Principal of Huynh Van Nghe Primary and Secondary School, shared: "To reassure parents, the school has signed a contract with a catering company with full quality inspection documents. Food is always guaranteed to be safe and hygienic, with a diverse menu and balanced nutrition, helping children have enough energy for afternoon classes. In addition, we also focus on training students to be independent in eating and living, thereby creating joy and excitement when studying at boarding school."

Not only Huynh Van Nghe Primary and Secondary School, Gia Ray Primary School also quickly implemented the boarding model right from the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year. Previously, the school surveyed and collected parents' opinions during the summer and received high consensus. Currently, the percentage of students participating in boarding is over 30%.

With a capacity of over 800 students, the school's facilities are considered to basically meet the needs. In particular, the school still has 14 classrooms left, ready to meet the needs if all students register for boarding. Areas such as the dining hall, separate study area, and resting area are all reasonably arranged, creating comfort and safety for the students.

Mr. Nguyen Van Ha, Principal of Gia Ray Primary School, emphasized: "The school's great advantage is that its facilities are quite fully equipped. Boarding meals are contracted with a professional catering unit, ensuring food safety and hygiene. In addition, organizing boarding also helps parents feel secure at work, reduces the worry of picking up and dropping off their children at noon, and at the same time trains children to be disciplined and self-aware in studying and living."

Currently, Xuan Loc commune has 21 kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools under its management. After the merger, the local government conducted a comprehensive survey of facilities, teaching staff, and reviewed items that need investment and repair to prepare well for the new school year. Up to now, in addition to the kindergarten system, the whole commune has 2 schools implementing the semi-boarding model.

Mr. Phan Cao Lam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Loc Commune, Dong Nai Province, said: "Following the direction of the province, the commune is continuing to review schools to assess the possibility of implementing boarding. For schools with guaranteed facilities and real needs from parents, we will direct to expand the model. First of all, we pay attention to the conditions of eating and resting, then ensure the team of service and management of boarding. This will be an important step for the boarding model to be replicated, creating maximum convenience for parents and students."

It can be seen that the implementation of boarding education at schools in Xuan Loc commune has received consensus and positive response from parents, close attention and direction from local authorities, along with the initiative and flexibility of the schools.

When this model continues to be invested, expanded and perfected, it will certainly create more favorable conditions for students to develop comprehensively in terms of knowledge, life skills and physical health. This is also an important solution to contribute to improving the quality of education in Xuan Loc commune in the coming time, meeting the expectations of parents and the general development orientation of the education and training sector of Dong Nai province.
