
According to quick statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training , storm No. 10 has caused serious damage to educational facilities in many provinces and cities in the Central region. It is estimated that more than 1,000 schools in Hue City, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa were affected, with total damage worth hundreds of billions of VND.
The good news is that no human casualties were recorded in the localities. However, educational facilities in many places were devastated, from roofs blown off, fences collapsed, floods to damaged equipment.
In Ha Tinh, the Department of Education and Training said 412 educational establishments were affected, with total estimated damage of about 430 billion VND, concentrated mainly in preschools, primary schools and secondary schools. The local education sector has decided to let students stay home from school to ensure safety and has not yet reopened.
In Nghe An, 483 schools were affected, causing damage of about 300 billion VND. All levels of education from kindergarten to high school were affected, causing disruption to teaching and learning activities.
Thua Thien Hue reported that 134 schools suffered damage, totaling more than 1.1 billion VND. Currently, most students have returned to class, except for 29 schools in low-lying areas that are still closed due to deep flooding.
In Thanh Hoa, 30 educational establishments were initially recorded to be affected, many schools had their roofs blown off and their fences damaged. On September 29, students in the whole province were given a day off, with each school deciding on the following days depending on the development of the floods.
