More than half a year after its launch, the new Yamaha PG-1 is now sold at the right price at the dealer.

Launched at the end of 2023, Yamaha PG-1 once "caused a storm" when its suggested retail price was set at 31 million VND (including 10% VAT). Possessing an eye-catching design and a variety of colors, this naked underbone model (a vehicle line with an engine placed below the main frame, high handlebars for an upright sitting position) not only attracts the attention of young people but also appeals to middle-aged customers.

During the initial period of sale, the number of vehicles arriving at the dealership was not much, causing the Yamaha PG-1 to face a situation of "price gouging". Many private motorbike dealers imported vehicles from official showrooms to increase the price, peaking at 40 million VND in Hanoi , especially with "hot" color codes.

Many months later, the business situation of this model has cooled down but is still "channeled" around 4-5 million VND. Until now, the selling price of Yamaha PG-1 has returned to the recommended level at some dealers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, with a full range of colors for users to choose from.

A dealer in Hung Yen even quoted the Yamaha PG-1 for only 30 million VND, 500,000 VND lower than the listed price (with 8% VAT applied). However, a showroom in Dak Lak still sells this model for 35 million VND.

Experts explain that the uneven selling price of Yamaha PG-1 at dealers is because the sales policy at each place depends on the number of imported vehicles. In the case of few imported vehicles but high demand from users, these establishments tend to raise prices and vice versa.

This is similar to the business situation of Honda motorbikes at dealerships. For example, Vision, this popular scooter model in June continued to be sold at "high" prices at dealerships, some places quoted prices 2 million VND higher than the suggested price but some dealers sold them at a difference of up to 4 million VND, depending on the version and color.

The Yamaha PG-1's equipment is not impressive, even the rear wheel still only uses drum brakes. However, this model still attracts the attention of Vietnamese customers thanks to its high customization, satisfying the hobby of "personalization".

With a round headlight design and separate handlebars, the Yamaha PG-1 quickly had many "modifications" after its launch. The suggested retail price of this model is only 31 million VND, but many users are willing to spend an additional 20-30 million VND to "renovate" it to their liking.
