Major medical school professors' highest income is less than 30 million VND/month

Recently, information about the income levels of staff and lecturers of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine and Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade has caused surprise.

According to the income announcement of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, the number of people with income of 8-15 million VND is the highest, the professor with the highest income is less than 30 million VND/month (Illustration: Hoai Nam).

According to the detailed monthly income disclosure of more than 900 officers, lecturers and employees of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, the highest total income is less than 30 million VND/month after tax deduction. The number of people with income from 8 to 15 million VND/month is the largest in this school.

The highest earner at this school is a professor working in the clinical practice management department, with a total income of nearly 30 million VND/month.

The total actual income of the members of the Board of Directors and School Council ranges from nearly 18 to nearly 26 million VND/month.

Specifically, in this group, the person with the highest income is the Vice Principal in charge of the school, with a net income of nearly 26 million VND. The remaining two Vice Principals have a total income equivalent to 21.5 million and 25.5 million VND. The Chairman of the School Council and Party Committee Secretary has an income of nearly 18 million VND.

According to the 3rd public report of the 2024-2025 school year of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, in 2024, the school collected more than 430 billion VND in tuition and fees from students; revenue from science and technology, net income and from contracts, and state budget funding was nearly 35 billion VND.

The announcement of the financial report and income for 2024-2025 of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade also caused surprise when the average income of staff, lecturers and employees reached 32.5 million VND/month.

After 10 years of implementing the autonomous mechanism from 2015 to present, the average income at this school has increased from 13.9 million VND to 32.5 million VND/month, an increase of 2.5 times.

It is known that at present, the highest income of a PhD at the school is over 85 million VND/month.

To attract and retain high-quality human resources, especially PhDs, from September 1, 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade will apply a policy to ensure a minimum income of 40 million VND/month for lecturers with PhDs. If the actual income is below the threshold, the school will multiply the coefficient to compensate.

According to the school's report, in 2024, the total revenue of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade will reach 1,008.8 billion VND, the school will officially join the group of universities with revenue of over a thousand billion.

It is expected that by 2025, the school's total revenue will increase to VND1,136.6 billion. Of which, 80% of revenue comes from tuition fees, the remaining 20% ​​from scientific research, technology transfer and other service revenues.

Thus, it can be seen that the average income of the departments, staff and workers at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade is higher than that of the professor with the highest income at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine.

Lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City National University earns the highest salary of 65 million VND/month

According to the latest announcement of some member schools of Ho Chi Minh City National University, the highest income of lecturers is up to 65 million VND/month. Specifically:

University of Economics and Law, the average income (according to the school's new income plan) for PhDs with over 3 years of experience will be 35 million VND/month, associate professors will be 55 million VND/month, and professors will be 65 million VND/month.

At the University of Technology, in addition to the basic salary according to state regulations and seniority, lecturers also receive a salary according to their job position of 18 million VND/person.

If the lecturer is a foreigner, he/she will receive a salary 3 times higher than that of a Vietnamese person, will be supported with 2 round-trip air tickets/year, supported with stable accommodation conditions for the first 3 months and supported with documents and procedures when working.

At the University of Natural Sciences, lecturers will receive basic salaries according to state regulations, seniority regime and a salary of 20 million VND according to job position.

At the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, lecturers' income includes the basic salary according to state regulations, seniority regime and salary according to job position of 15 million VND/person.

If the lecturer is a foreigner, he/she will receive a salary twice as high as that of a Vietnamese person, will be supported with 2 round-trip air tickets/year, and will be supported with documents and procedures when working.

At the International University, Vietnamese lecturers will have an income including basic salary according to state regulations and job position-based benefits of 23.2 million VND/month.

At the University of Information Technology, the average income of staff with 3 years or more of working experience at the school is 45 million VND/month for PhDs; and 55 million VND/month for associate professors.

At the University of Health Sciences, in addition to the basic salary according to state regulations and seniority, lecturers also receive a salary according to their job position of 16 million VND/person, and other benefits according to the school's regulations.
