On the afternoon of September 26, Mr. Dang Van Hoa, Chief of Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Hue City, said that the city has sent an official dispatch requesting units and localities to deploy response work for storm Bualoi (storm No. 10) expected to make landfall in the next few days.
According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, Bualoi (storm No. 10) is a very strong storm, with a very wide range of strong winds, and it is especially necessary to be on guard against thunderstorms before the storm directly affects it. Hue City is forecasted to be one of the localities with a high possibility of being directly affected by the storm.
Faced with that situation, Hue city leaders have requested localities to immediately deploy preparations and response to this strong storm.
40 communes and wards in the city are required to check and review each type of natural disaster that may occur in the area according to the 4-on-the-spot motto, especially plans and scenarios for responding to storms, heavy rains, floods, landslides, and flash floods.
The city also directed localities to urgently harvest the summer-autumn rice crop with the motto "Green at home is better than ripe in the fields". Up to now, localities have harvested. 24,534ha/24,917ha of rice, reaching 98.5%.
Regarding boats, Hue has 1,122 boats of 6m or more with more than 8,000 workers at sea. Currently, these boats have all entered safe shelters. Hue has also stocked more than 20 tons of rice, thousands of boxes of instant noodles, clean water... ready to be distributed to people affected by the storm.
To cope with the worst possible scenarios when the storm makes landfall, 40 communes and wards in Hue city have reviewed and updated detailed plans for evacuating 10,132 households with 32,697 people, mainly concentrated in coastal and lagoon areas.
Depending on the developments and path of the storm, localities will proactively evacuate people to safety before the storm makes landfall.
