Rescuing two fishing boats in distress in Cua Viet creek while taking shelter from storm number 10

On September 28, the Border Guard Command of Quang Tri province informed that while bringing ships into Cua Viet channel to avoid storm No. 10, two fishing boats in Ho Chi Minh City suddenly encountered an accident, causing one ship to sink, the other ship to stall and the waves to break the side of the ship.

Specifically, at 5:45 a.m. on September 28, Ms. Quat Thi Hai Linh (born in 1995), a family member of two fishing boats with registration numbers: BV 4670-TS, BV 0042-TS in Ho Chi Minh City, informed the Border Guard Command of Quang Tri province about two fishing boats with 11 crew members in distress while entering Cua Viet inlet to take shelter from the storm, about 1.5 km from shore (right in front of Cua Viet inlet) and requested the unit to support and rescue.

To promptly rescue the fishing boat crew in distress, the Border Guard Station of Cua Viet Port, Quang Tri Province Border Guard has urgently mobilized a working group of 10 officers and soldiers to coordinate with local authorities and people to approach. According to initial information, one crew member has swum to shore. The rescue coordination work is still being carried out urgently and actively by officers, soldiers and people.

The Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard Command reported to the provincial leaders and mobilized ship CN-09 of Con Co Border Guard Station to coordinate with Cua Viet Port Border Guard Station and Trieu Van Border Guard Station to approach and rescue; maintain contact with the family, ship owner and the ship in distress. Units including Border Guard Squadron 2, Trieu Van Border Guard Station, Con Co Border Guard Station closely coordinated with Cua Viet Port Border Guard Station to grasp information, verify and prepare forces and means for rescue.
