
Luggage to overcome difficulties
Quang Nam College has opened a full-time forestry college and intermediate course for 95 students who are ethnic minority children. Of these, 35 students are studying full-time intermediate courses, 39 students are studying full-time college courses, and 22 students are transferring from intermediate to college courses.
The program equips students with in-depth knowledge in sustainable forest protection and development, and the application of technology in forest resource management. After the course, students will have both job opportunities and increased community awareness of green development, especially practical skills to participate in sustainable development projects.
Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Thi Phuong Anh, Principal of Quang Nam College, said that the school has 400 students who are ethnic minorities. In response to the fear of being far from home of students and parents, the school's admissions team actively went to the grassroots level to encourage students to come to class.
The students' support to go to school is the benefits according to the policies of the Central and local governments, free tuition, and guaranteed food and living conditions in the dormitory. Those who overcome difficulties to study well and have difficult circumstances receive scholarships from businesses and units.
“After completing the course, the school will introduce jobs at home and abroad so that students can have a good income. The school has improved vocational training associated with employment, helping students have stable jobs; gradually reducing poverty sustainably,” said Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Thi Phuong Anh.

Local connections and training facilities
Tay Giang commune has more than 5,900 workers, of which about 2,000 have vocational training and nearly 1,360 have degrees and certificates. However, the number of people participating in temporary labor abroad is only 8; the number working in industrial zones and clusters is still limited.
Recognizing this reality, Vice Chairman of Tay Giang Commune People's Committee Nguyen Anh Tuan said: "The main reason is still the mentality of people who are afraid to go far away and are not used to the industrial working environment. Currently, the commune has about 2,000 workers who need to be equipped with skills and knowledge to adapt to this environment."
According to the leaders of Tay Giang commune, to promote development, vocational training must be closely linked with creating stable and suitable jobs. The locality has closely coordinated with vocational training facilities, the City Employment Service Center and labor export enterprises to carry out consulting activities and connect labor needs.
Besides, implementing support policies to help people easily access job opportunities.
Currently, Tay Giang commune cooperates with THACO College to open vocational training classes in the locality for groups of junior high school and high school graduates who want to both learn vocational skills and study culture.
According to Mr. Phan Tiem, Principal of THACO College, in recent years, the school has expanded cooperation with mountainous localities, especially border areas, receiving an average of 40 - 60 students each year. The promotion of enrollment in remote areas also aims to meet the target of 4,800 jobs at THACO Group in the period of 2025 - 2027.
Up to now, THACO College has trained and arranged jobs for 218 students who are ethnic minorities in the industrial and agricultural sectors. After the course, workers are signed on-site contracts with a starting salary of 7 - 8 million VND/month with full insurance and benefits.
