
At the meeting, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Thap said that for the area of the Tien River bank erosion protection embankment (Thuong Phuoc commune), the department will restore the structure of the project as in the design phase; reinforce the erosion hole with sandbags and lay stone carpets. The department also requested the province to consider adjusting and supplementing the length of the emergency landslide repair in accordance with the landslide developments and landslide risks.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Thap, as of October 20, there were 7 landslides and subsidence locations on the Thuong Thoi Tien embankment with a total length of about 485 m. Currently, the locality has put up ropes and signs warning of landslides, and is not allowing vehicles to travel on the asphalt road adjacent to the above-mentioned landslide area.
Also according to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Thap, in response to the landslide on the Tien River bank at Nguyen Huong Street (Cao Lanh Ward), the first step will be to fill 2 vortex holes at 2 landslide locations with sandbags on geotextile fabric to limit landslides; reinforce and overcome landslides and subsidence with fabric sandbags and spread stone carpets.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Dieu emphasized that overcoming landslides in the above two areas is an urgent task.
Therefore, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested relevant units to urgently, prioritize and quickly implement the emergency landslide remediation project; in which, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Department of Construction, Department of Finance quickly implement the project, at the same time review to be proactive in capital sources for implementation; select capable construction units; implement in accordance with regulations; regularly inspect and supervise during the construction process.
The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province also requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to continue to closely monitor the landslide developments, promptly report emergency situations; organize traffic regulation to ensure safety, smoothness, and minimize impacts on production activities and people's lives in the landslide area.
Previously, on October 18, the Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee signed and issued Decision No. 1161/QD-UBND on issuing an Order to build urgent works for the Project to urgently overcome landslides on Tien River banks in the Thuong Thoi Tien embankment area (in Thuong Phuoc commune, Dong Thap province); issued Decision No. 1160/QD-UBND on issuing an Order to build urgent works for the Project to urgently overcome landslides on Tien River banks at Nguyen Huong Street (Tan Tich hamlet and Tinh Hung hamlet, Cao Lanh ward).
The construction of the above two emergency projects aims to promptly overcome and proactively prevent landslides and subsidence of the Tien River bank, promptly ensuring the safety of people's lives and property and businesses, the safety of natural disaster prevention works, technical infrastructure systems and people's traffic.
