Yen Tu Spring Festival 2025

(NLDO)- Yen Tu Spring Festival lasts for 3 months, is one of the biggest and longest Spring festivals in the country.

On the morning of February 7 (January 10, At Ty year), at Truc Lam Yen Tu Cultural Center, Thuong Yen Cong commune, Uong Bi city, Quang Ninh province, the opening ceremony of Yen Tu Spring Festival 2025 took place.

The Yen Tu Spring Festival is an annual cultural activity held on the 10th of January every year. This is an important festival in Quang Ninh, opening the 3-month spring festival, to serve the spiritual and cultural needs of the people.

This year, the traditional Yen Tu Spring Festival opening ceremony was organized in a solemn, safe, healthy and economical manner, imbued with national identity. The opening ceremony included rituals such as: beating drums, ringing bells to open the festival; spiritual rituals (offerings, praying for national peace and prosperity; Yen Tu sacred seal ceremony).

In particular, the 2025 palanquin procession was the largest ever, with the participation of 11 palanquin teams from localities in Uong Bi City and the Buddhist Sangha of Quang Ninh Province, bringing a solemn spring festival imbued with Vietnamese cultural identity.

Mr. Hoang Dao Cuong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, performed the Yen Tu sacred seal ceremony.

The procession started from Khai Tam Gate, passed through Minh Tam Square and entered Truc Lam Palace. Leading the procession were the Dragon Couple, the Bat Am and Bat Buu teams, along with Buddhist flags, festival flags and 11 palanquins. Each palanquin was carried by 16 to 20 people, followed by delegates, monks, representatives of religious establishments and participating people.

In addition to the solemn ceremony, this year's Yen Tu Spring Festival has special cultural activities such as: Lantern Festival Night, praying for national peace and prosperity; organizing folk games, traditional art performances in the Yen Tu Village area; art performances, dragon and lion dances, traditional martial arts; displaying and exhibiting paintings and photos to promote the values ​​and majestic and sacred beauty of Yen Tu, cuisine of the Dao Thanh Y ethnic group at the foot of Yen Tu mountain...

A new feature within the framework of the Yen Tu Spring Festival Opening Ceremony 2025 is the participation of professional art troupes from the Central and the province, with the appearance of a number of famous Vietnamese singers and artists.

Many monks, nuns and Buddhists from inside and outside the province attended the opening ceremony.

The historical relic and scenic spot of Yen Tu is associated with the name of Buddhist Emperor Tran Nhan Tong (1258-1308), the king who led the army and people of the Tran Dynasty to defeat the Yuan-Mongol army twice.

After that, the Buddha King gave up the throne, went to Yen Tu to practice Buddhism, and founded the Truc Lam Zen sect with strong Vietnamese characteristics.

Historically, Yen Tu has always been one of the Buddhist centers of the country, associated with many ancient architectures, built through different historical periods (Ly, Tran, Le, Nguyen).
