Opening of the third "Hoi An Craft Flowers" event

This activity aims to introduce the cultural beauty of Hoi An's crafts and craft villages; promote the skills and creativity of local workers; and promote the effectiveness of the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods", taking place at Kim Bong Craft Village Center, Cam Kim Commune and craft villages and creative spaces in Hoi An City from May 31 to June 2.

Delegates performed the opening ceremony of the event "The 3rd Hoi An Craft Flower" and "Hoi An Green Consumption - Startup Fair".

In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of Hoi An City People's Committee Nguyen The Hung said that in the history of formation and development of Hoi An commercial port city from past to present, handicrafts/craft villages have always played a very important role. It is the crystallization of the creative and dynamic labor process of successive generations of residents residing in Hoi An land, with the exchange of Eastern and Western cultures.

The bustling presence of traditional occupations/craft villages in Hoi An in the fields of agriculture , fisheries, handicrafts, trade, services, etc. has contributed to the prosperous development of Hoi An commercial port city.

In the history of formation and development of Hoi An commercial port city from past to present, handicraft professions/villages have always played a very important role.

Through the process of cultural exchange, assimilation and social development, many traditional occupations/craft villages in Hoi An continue to be preserved and developed creatively by the city, adapting to new conditions, making an important contribution to the city's socio -economic development.

In October 2023, Hoi An city was honored to join the UNESCO Global Creative Cities Network in the field of crafts and folk arts.

"The event aims to introduce the cultural beauty of traditional crafts and villages of Hoi An to domestic and international friends, honor the creativity of craftsmen; contribute to inspiring creative ideas in the community, connect craft villages; fulfill the commitments of the creative city that Hoi An city has registered with UNESCO; promote and spread the startup and creative ecosystem," said Mr. Hung.

Coming to Hoi An on this occasion, visitors will have more unique and attractive experiences and unleash their creativity at Hoi An's creative spaces.

Taking place from May 31 to June 2, "The 3rd Hoi An Craft Flower" and "Hoi An Green Consumption - Startup Fair" include many rich and unique activities such as: Seminar "Hoi An - Craft Village", opening of Kim Bong Carpentry Village Tour Guide; photo exhibition with the theme "Hoi An - Creative City", introducing and demonstrating traditional crafts: Thanh Ha pottery sharpening; Kim Bong carpentry sculpture; lantern making; making unicorn heads, Thien Cau and Ong Dia masks; making paintings, bamboo, Cam Thanh coconut; weaving nets and decorating fishing gear;...

In addition, there are also exchange activities, connecting creative experts with the participation of artists and artisans in designing handmade products, making handicraft products, souvenirs, displaying recycled products of Hoi An Craft Village, introducing the Door Eye Collection of Collector Bao Ly... promising to create a unique cultural and creative convergence space for people and tourists to explore and approach more deeply Vietnamese culture in general and Hoi An in particular.
