The humanitarian program "Examination, treatment and consultation on dental care for children with cerebral palsy" continues to affirm the long-term commitment of Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital in community health care, especially for children in special circumstances.

On October 8 and 9, Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Dak Lak province, in collaboration with the Association of Families of Children and People with Cerebral Palsy Vietnam (CPFAV), organized the second humanitarian program "Examination, treatment and consultation on dental care for children with cerebral palsy" in 2025.

The program continues to affirm the Hospital's long-term commitment to community health care, especially for children in special circumstances. Through this, it aims to honor the family's determination and steadfast companionship, spreading the message of sharing and companionship so that every child has the opportunity to live a healthy life.

At the program, 29 children from 4 to 17 years old had their teeth cleaned, filled, extracted, and were given medicine and oral care products completely free of charge.

Many families from remote communes such as M'Drak, Krong Bong, Ea H'leo... traveled hundreds of kilometers, bringing with them the faith and hope to take better care of their children.

Speaking at the program, Specialist Doctor II Vo Minh Thanh, Director of Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital shared: “The hospital always identifies social work as a sustainable development orientation. In particular, health care for children with cerebral palsy is a long journey, requiring perseverance and connection between the hospital, family and society. Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital is committed to continuing to maintain and develop programs for the community, creating long-term, sustainable impacts on the health and future of the young generation.”

From 2023 to present, the program has been organized annually by Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. In 2025, realizing the real needs of the community and the practical effectiveness of the program, the hospital decided to expand the scale of organization to twice a year, in order to provide regular, continuous and more effective oral health care for children.

This is one of the hospital's key community programs, along with programs such as: The Seed of Happiness Program - supporting the cost of in vitro fertilization (IVF) for disadvantaged couples; The Smile Surgery Program, in collaboration with Operation Smile, provides free surgery for children with cleft lip and palate, scheduled to be held in December 2025; and the program of medical examination and free medicine distribution in remote areas of Dak Lak province.

Specialist II Doctor Nguyen Thuy Phuong, Head of the Dental Unit, Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, emotionally expressed: “We clearly see the changes in the children through each re-examination - from oral health, ability to cooperate to spirit. That is the motivation for the medical team to persevere and be dedicated in choosing the appropriate treatment technique for each child.”

The mother of Tran Ngoc Anh from the remote commune of M'Drak, Dak Lak province, could not hide her emotions as she shared: "My husband and I work in the fields, traveling far and hard... but when I brought my child here, I felt it was really worth it. Because here, the children are listened to, loved and cared for with patience and empathy. The doctors are dedicated, the child cooperated when four cavities were treated, and he can eat better every day."

Doctors and nurses from Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, the Vietnam Association of Families of Children and People with Cerebral Palsy, and families with children with cerebral palsy participated in the program.

From a physical perspective, the children may not be complete, but in the hearts of their parents and medical staff, they are always special children, full of resilience, and are writing extraordinary things every day. Therefore, this humanitarian activity not only has medical value, but is also a source of motivation for the family to be more stable, so that the children can confidently integrate into the community.
