Previously, a video was circulated on social networks recording a scene of an 8th grade female student being beaten by a group of friends right in the classroom. The victim was repeatedly beaten by the group of friends in the face and head, and when a male student tried to stop him, he was also beaten by the group of students.

The leaders of the Hanoi People's Committee requested to investigate and clarify the case of an 8th grade female student at Minh Duc Secondary School being beaten by a group of people.

According to the report of the Department of Education and Training of Ung Hoa District, the incident occurred on the afternoon of May 11 in class 8A1 of Minh Duc Secondary School (Minh Duc Commune, Ung Hoa District). While in class, students NHA and NMN used their hands to hit student KTV on the head and face. Seeing V. being beaten, male student D. used a water bottle to shield himself. At this time, student L. saw it and thought the group of friends were joking, so he recorded a video and shared it on a social network group.

On May 16, the homeroom teacher of class 8A1 was informed of the incident and asked the group of students to write a report and self-criticism. Through initial verification, the reason A. and N. beat V. was spontaneous, not out of hatred. The school invited the parents to discuss, all 3 students realized their mistakes and promised not to repeat the offense. On May 19, the incident became known to many people when the video was widely spread on social networks.

Increased anxiety

Readers (BÐ) expressed their concern about the continuous occurrence of school violence. "Reading the news, I feel sad and uneasy because this situation is a burning issue but there is still no solution to completely resolve it. I wonder whether severely punishing these cases will help the victims escape from psychological trauma? This situation, in my opinion, is getting more and more serious. I urgently hope that educators and lawmakers will soon have regulations as a basis for strict handling, otherwise it will be impossible to deter other cases," BÐ Tien Hung commented.

Sharing the same view, BĐ Ngo Duy said: "The reality shows that the coordination between schools and parents is not really close, leading to many sad situations of school violence like today. It is time to return to a pure, loving school environment instead of one full of violence like today." BĐ Hai Duyen wrote: "Students nowadays are exposed to bad things too easily, while the management and education of schools and families are not guaranteed. Many teachers only focus on achievements and forget about moral training. To be honest, having talent but not morality is just a useless person."

"Many young people, because of challenges from friends or because of their big egos, act like they're big and bully their friends. If they only knew the consequences they've caused, they'll cause huge mental trauma to their classmates. If we blame the students once, we should blame the school and the parents ten times. We need more effective educational methods and strong enough measures to act as a deterrent," analyzed BĐ Hùng Cường.

Join hands to prevent

"School violence is increasingly causing confusion for parents and students. In my opinion, there are many causes, but the most important thing is how to prevent and end this situation, it must come from many sides: families should care about their children, schools should educate children on life skills and if they violate, there should be severe measures to deter and set an example," said Long Duy, Director of the Board of Directors.

Phuoc Tam also believes that if school violence is to be eliminated, children must be cared for and disciplined from primary school. "This requires teachers to closely monitor the children, be gentle, share, and keep an eye on children with unusual and aggressive personalities. When a friend tells the teacher that they are being bullied or mistreated, teachers should not punish them by beating them or making them ashamed, but must influence and reconcile them to promote the spirit of love and solidarity with each other. As for parents, they must pay more attention to their children," this Phuoc Tam Board of Directors gave advice and suggested: "When you are close to your children, such as during meals or before going to bed, you should evoke, share, and listen, so that children will confide in you about everything happening in school or in class. Only then can school violence be pushed back in the near future.

* In my opinion, the main cause still comes from the educational methods of schools and families. Children nowadays are easily exposed to bad things, while the current moral training is still lacking. If there are no more practical measures, it will certainly become a problem. Therefore, everyone must be more determined to prevent school violence.

Hoang Tung

* The issue of moral education and training needs to be promoted more, along with finding strict measures, instead of doing everything for the sake of it. Don't wait until the horse is gone to build a stable. Only when tragic events occur will it be too late to regret.
