In the first 9 months of 2024, Hai Duong traffic police fined 16 drivers who tested positive for drugs but still worked, with a total fine of 140 million VND.

According to the plan, from October 10 to October 20, 2024, at Hai Duong International General Clinic (Tan Binh Ward, Hai Duong City), the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee will organize periodic health check-ups and check for drug use by drivers in 2024.

The subjects of the inspection are drivers working at enterprises, cooperatives, and households that transport passengers and goods by car in the province. It is expected that about 2,700 drivers will be inspected during this period.

Comrade Vu Duc Hanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Transport, chaired a meeting to deploy a plan for periodic health check-ups and checking for drug use by drivers.

The Hai Duong Department of Transport has announced this plan to businesses, cooperatives, and transport business households and requested all businesses, cooperatives, and transport business households to follow the plan, notify, and urge drivers to go for inspection within the prescribed time. If these units do not mobilize or mobilize not enough drivers to come for inspection, a list will be sent to the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee for handling measures.

The purpose of the inspection is to promptly detect and handle drivers using drugs, resolutely not allowing people who are not in good health to drive. At the same time, it also enhances the responsibility of businesses and transport management units in propaganda, education , health care for drivers and raises drivers' awareness of law compliance when operating vehicles in traffic.

The Provincial Traffic Safety Committee also has solutions to prevent drivers from delaying or avoiding health and drug checks; and to monitor and handle fraudulent and defiant situations, if any.

During the 2023 inspection, Hai Duong discovered 7 drivers testing positive for drugs.
