Super-intensive shrimp farming with little water change is a modern model that both increases shrimp yield and helps reduce waste to the environment.
Mr. Thuong has been applying the super-intensive shrimp farming model with little water change for the past 4 years, raising 3 crops each year. On an area of nearly 4 hectares, he arranged 5 ponds (each pond is about 1,500 m²), the rest is for the settling pond system and wastewater treatment pond to ensure a stable farming environment. Water in the pond is continuously treated and reused, helping to maintain good water quality, limit diseases and save fresh water resources.
Mr. Bui Chi Thuong was recognized by the agricultural materials business unit (HaiD Vietnam Group) for setting a record for raising large-sized shrimp in the locality.
After 120 days of care, he harvested 5 ponds, getting 28 tons of white-leg shrimp with a "huge" size of only 15 shrimp/kg.
According to Mr. Thuong, during the entire farming process, he minimizes the use of chemicals and antibiotics, instead focusing on the filtration system, circulating water treatment combined with biological products. Thanks to that, the shrimp grow healthily, reach large sizes, have beautiful shiny shells and are purchased by traders at higher prices than the market. Not only does this model bring outstanding economic efficiency, it also minimizes waste to the environment, aiming for green and sustainable production.
Mr. Thuong monitors the shrimp daily to make timely adjustments to ensure the shrimp are healthy and grow quickly.
Mr. Thuong fully equipped machinery and equipment to ensure effective implementation of the model.
Many delegations came to Mr. Thuong's model to share experiences in implementing the model.
With impressive results, Ca Mau province is aiming to expand the circular shrimp farming model to a scale of about 1,500 hectares, striving to build a farming area that meets international ASC and BAP certifications, serving export to high-end markets such as the EU, US, and Japan.
The project to develop a circular shrimp farming model is not only a technological step forward but also an important foundation in the green growth strategy of the Ca Mau shrimp industry. The success of pioneering farmers like Mr. Bui Chi Thuong is contributing to affirming the position and brand "Ca Mau Shrimp - Vietnamese Shrimp" in the world market.
