On September 23, in Da Nang , the IRONMAN Group held a press conference to officially announce that Vietnam will host the first IRONMAN Full Distance triathlon, which will take place in Da Nang on May 10, 2026.

The event marks an important milestone in the international integration process of Vietnamese sports , and at the same time makes Da Nang a new destination on the map of the world's leading endurance tournaments. IRONMAN Vietnam 2026 will be held in parallel with IRONMAN 70.3 Da Nang, a familiar tournament that has been maintained since 2015, contributing to spreading the triathlon movement in Vietnam over the past decade.
According to the announcement, the full IRONMAN race in Da Nang City includes 3 events: 3.8 km swim at Bien Dong Park; 180 km bike ride through the coastal road Vo Nguyen Giap, Thuan Phuoc bridge and suburban fields; 42.2 km run along My Khe beach with the finish line at Bien Dong Park. Outstanding athletes will win a spot to participate in the 2026 IRONMAN World Championship.
After 10 years, the IRONMAN 70.3 Da Nang tournament has become a familiar playground, attracting many domestic and international athletes.

“Da Nang has proven to be a great host for IRONMAN 70.3 over the past 10 years,” said Jeff Edwards, Managing Director of the Asia Region of the IRONMAN Group. “Having the full IRONMAN in Vietnam for the first time is an important step forward, providing an exciting experience for both international athletes and the local community.”
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee, affirmed that hosting the full IRONMAN 2026 is a testament to Da Nang City's ability to organize world-class events.
"The city will carefully prepare infrastructure and resources and closely coordinate with relevant parties to ensure success, thereby promoting Da Nang as a dynamic, modern and attractive destination," Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Thao, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, said that this event not only enhances the image of Da Nang City but also creates momentum for the development of a sustainable endurance sports ecosystem, bringing long-term benefits to the community and the local tourism industry.
Mr. Trinh Bang, representative of Sunrise Events Vietnam (co-organizer), emphasized: "Since bringing IRONMAN 70.3 to Vietnam in 2015, we have believed that the country has the conditions to host a full IRONMAN tournament. After a decade, the athlete community has grown stronger, the sports infrastructure has been standardized and now Vietnam is ready to enter the world-class playing field."

The organizers expect the event to not only attract thousands of international athletes and fans, but also bring a big boost to the sports industry, tourism and national image.
