At the end of July, a working delegation of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee led by Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi, along with 4 vice chairmen of the province, 7 directors of departments and branches and many professional staff, conducted a survey at Bung Thi forest (in Ta Kou Nature Reserve, Tan Thanh commune, Ham Thuan Nam district, old Binh Thuan ).

Here, the working group was surprised to "witness" the natural hot spring erupting up to 90 degrees Celsius, almost pristine, unexploited. The leaders of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee assessed that if invested in, exploited and protected well, this place will open up the prospect of developing a unique tourism product with sea, forest and spiritual culture, contributing greatly to the socio -economic development of the southeast of Lam Dong province.

Ke Ga - the sea soul of the culturally rich fishing village of Tan Thanh

Tan Thanh is famous as an old fishing village of Ham Thuan Nam district, old Binh Thuan, where migrants from many coastal areas of the Central region gather. Tan Thanh fishing village is rich in traditional maritime culture, most notably the whale worship, along with many customs and ceremonies closely associated with the fishermen's lives.

In Van Phong village, the whale worshiping place of Tan Thanh fishing village still preserves the royal decree from the time of King Khai Dinh. According to Mr. Diep Minh Hung, the person in charge of worshiping in Van Phong village (Tan Thanh fishing village), in the 9th year of King Khai Dinh's reign (1916 - 1925), the king granted the fishermen of this fishing village a royal decree recognizing their merit in rescuing "Mr. Nam Hai" at Ke Ga sea.

Not only rich in cultural traditions, Tan Thanh fishing village is also famous for Ke Ga lighthouse, built by the French in 1899, and is currently the oldest lighthouse in Southeast Asia still in operation.

Ke Ga Lighthouse is not only a "magic lamp" guiding thousands of ships, but also the "soul of the sea" of Tan Thanh. For many generations, this lighthouse has witnessed many voyages and many generations of people clinging to the sea. In the upcoming tourism development strategy, Ke Ga Lighthouse will still be a unique highlight, both of historical value and evoking pride in the long-standing maritime cultural tradition here.

Bung Thi hot spring - priceless untapped resource

Located not far from Ke Ga lighthouse, Bung Thi forest hides a natural treasure, which is a hot spring that erupts spontaneously with a temperature of up to nearly 90 degrees Celsius. This water source is still pristine and has not been invested in and exploited. This is what surprised Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi and the working group during the survey trip. At the survey of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee (July 26), Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh (former Secretary of the District Party Committee of Ham Thuan Nam District, old Binh Thuan) said that the water source of Bung Thi hot spring had been taken for analysis, showing that it contains many minerals that are very good for human health. Previously, many investors wanted to exploit Bung Thi hot spring, but they did not meet the necessary conditions, so the People's Committee of old Binh Thuan province did not approve the investment. Therefore, up to now, this whole area is still quite wild.

Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi said that Bung Thi hot spring is like a "treasure" that nature has bestowed on this land. Mr. Muoi affirmed that if Bung Thi hot spring is protected and exploited in the right direction, it can be developed into an ecological and therapeutic resort.

Currently, an investor has submitted a proposal to the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee requesting the entire area to develop a tourism project combining resort and medical treatment, closely linked to the mountain and forest landscape and natural ecosystem.

Ta Kou Pagoda - a spiritual support for green development

Right near Bung Thi is Ta Kou Pagoda (also known as Ta Cu), one of the oldest and most famous mountain pagoda complexes in the area. Here, visitors can take a cable car up the mountain to see the reclining Buddha statue, 49m long, 11m high, recognized as the longest reclining Buddha statue in Southeast Asia. For many years, Ta Kou Pagoda has been a spiritual destination for hundreds of thousands of Buddhists and tourists from all over the world every year. The "treasure" of Ta Kou Pagoda has made a great contribution to the budget as well as social security of Ham Thuan Nam District in the past.

If the combination of "sea soul" Ke Ga, Bung Thi hot spring and Ta Kou pagoda not only brings spiritual and resort tourism value, but also opens up a direction for sustainable development, creating a distinct mark for Lam Dong sea area.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa - Chairman of Binh Thuan Tourism Association commented that the connection of three elements: "sea soul" Ke Ga, hot spring in Bung Thi forest and spiritual Ta Kou pagoda, will create a comprehensive tourism ecosystem, rarely found anywhere like Tan Thanh commune, Lam Dong province.

"Coming here, tourists can watch the sunrise on Ke Ga beach, bathe in Bung Thi hot spring in the middle of the forest at noon, visit Ta Kou pagoda in the afternoon, worship the giant reclining Buddha statue, and then return to Tan Thanh fishing village to eat seafood, which is wonderful," said the Chairman of Binh Thuan Tourism Association.

In the context of Lam Dong province after the merger, exploiting the unique advantages such as Ke Ga, Bung Thi hot spring and Ta Kou pagoda has strategic and important significance in the new development space. It not only creates more attractive tourism products, but also attracts investment in infrastructure, services, creates jobs and income for local people.

At the press conference of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee in early August, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi emphasized: "Exploiting the potential of the blue sea must go hand in hand with protecting and preserving forest resources and preserving the culture of coastal villages. This is a comparative advantage that few places have like Lam Dong. The Provincial People's Committee will carefully consider investment proposals, ensuring both economic development and the preservation of local natural resources and cultural heritage for green and sustainable development."
