Ensuring aquaculture growth plans

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has just forecasted that in the last months of 2025, the global trade situation will continue to have strong fluctuations due to changes in tariff policies, new technical barriers of some countries and internal limitations and shortcomings, storms, floods, droughts, saltwater intrusion, and disease outbreaks that are at high risk of affecting the production, export and consumption of aquatic products in 2025.

Meanwhile, Lam Dong province has focused on developing the aquaculture industry in the direction of diversifying farming objects, both exploiting natural advantages and creating sustainable added value. With this shift, the locality hopes to create a breakthrough, contributing to increasing people's income and promoting comprehensive agricultural economic development.

After the merger, Lam Dong province is the locality with the largest natural area in the country (more than 24,200 km²), and has a coastline of 192 km. This is a great potential for Lam Dong province to develop aquaculture, with the advantage of combining inland farming with fishing at sea.

In order for aquaculture in the province to develop stably in the last months of 2025, meeting the demand for aquatic raw materials in both quantity and quality for domestic consumption, processing and export, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Department of Industry and Trade and related departments, branches and localities must continue to closely monitor the price changes of raw materials to promptly provide information to farmers and businesses, serving the development of appropriate production, processing and export plans until the end of 2025.

Review and adjust the stocking schedule and local production plan to ensure aquaculture production in the direction of multi-value, multi-object, promoting the advantages of each farming area to ensure practical contribution to the GRDP growth target of the province and the agricultural and environmental sectors. Fully prepare conditions such as: aquatic breeds, aquatic feed, aquaculture environmental treatment products... to serve aquaculture in the province in the last months of 2025.

At the same time, closely monitor weather developments, do a good job of monitoring and warning the environment in concentrated aquaculture areas of the province. Timely advise and warn farmers to effectively respond to adverse environmental conditions. Especially, closely inspect, monitor and take timely measures to handle epidemics to minimize damage in aquaculture. Proactively deploy prevention, response and overcoming consequences of natural disasters occurring during the 2025 rainy and stormy season.

In addition, organize production in the direction of promoting local advantages. Stabilize production of key aquatic products, develop brackish water shrimp farming according to industrial models, high-density intensive farming, develop offshore aquaculture of species with high economic value towards sustainable livelihoods and environmental protection.

Develop aquaculture in reservoirs and valuable native and endemic species, contributing to biodiversity protection and sustainable aquaculture economic development. Organize linkages in production, strengthen cooperation between industry associations, enterprises, cooperatives, farming households and farming areas according to the principle of "linkage, cooperation, people-centered".

Along with that, continue to promote research, application of science - technology, innovation, digital transformation in aquaculture. Guide local businesses and farmers to apply digital transformation in production management, apply advanced science - technology in production, develop green, organic, circular, sustainable aquatic products to reduce production costs, improve productivity, quality and product value.

Organize inspections of law enforcement in aquaculture, strictly handle violations and publicize handling results according to regulations.

This will be an important foundation for the fisheries industry of Lam Dong province to create a breakthrough development, contributing to improving people's lives, increasing income and affirming the role of Lam Dong province as a typical example in modern agricultural production.
