Association officials must sacrifice

Mr. Nguyen Tuong Lam - Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Union - answered a question from a Tuoi Tre reporter about the solution to build a team of Union officials who "experience hardship first, enjoy later" at the press conference after the congress on December 18.

Mr. Nguyen Tuong Lam shared that the responsibility of the Association's cadres is to sacrifice. Some of the Association's cadres were sent by the Youth Union to work part-time for the Association. Other Association cadres are from different classes and youth groups.

They can be young businessmen, young artists... coming to the Association with affection, responsibility and love for the Association and the youth. "Those friends are certainly the ones who have to sacrifice the most, because the Association cannot help materially but only accompany and help spiritually. They accompany the Association on its meaningful journeys" - Mr. Lam said.

According to Mr. Lam, looking back at the issues General Secretary To Lam pointed out at the Congress, the root cause lies in the human factor.

"When we do not have grassroots Union officials who are truly leaders of the youth, the Union's work and youth movements will certainly not be substantial. If they are not truly leaders, do not know how to do it, do not know how to think about the Union's activities, do not know how to orient the youth, but only follow administrative procedures, they will not be able to attract young people. At that time, the Union's activities will only be a formality," said Mr. Lam.

Mr. Lam said that this is also one of the reasons why the youth union membership rate is not as expected.

"If young people do not have access to the Union and education , the rate of law violations will increase and become younger. All of these issues are related to the responsibility of Union and Union officials," said the new president of the Vietnam Youth Union.

The movement "I love my Fatherland" is the core of the work of building the Association organization.

Implementing the direction of the General Secretary , after this congress, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union determined the goals to guide each specific activity.

Union officials must be youth leaders, not civil servants. Union officials must first be autonomous and voluntary, so that youth can participate in the Union voluntarily.

"We have no other expectations for a strong, united, capable, creative, and enthusiastic collective to keep up with the development of the Youth Union, to build the Union organization and the youth movement to develop more and more," said Nguyen Tuong Lam.
