Statistics conducted by Ookla - the unit behind the Speedtest tool - showed that in August 2025, Vietnam's fixed internet network results reached 261.8 Mbps, ranking 10th in the global rankings, far surpassing the 33rd ranking announced in March 2025. This result is higher than many countries such as Switzerland, Denmark, and China.

The average download speed of mobile networks in Vietnam is 152.17 Mbps, ranking 16th in the world.

This result is also similar to the announcement of the iSpeed system - an Internet access quality measurement system developed by the Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC) - with the result that fixed internet in Vietnam will reach a speed of 271.2 Mbps by August 2025.

According to experts, this growth comes from many factors, including businesses investing in additional submarine and land fiber optic cable infrastructure and network operators proactively upgrading domestic connection infrastructure.

For example, Viettel network said it has deployed a series of modern solutions and technologies such as XGS-PON, popularizing Wi-Fi 6, and moving towards deploying Wi-Fi 7. XGS-PON optical transmission technology has opened a new "data highway" with a symmetrical speed of 10 Gbps, 8-10 times faster than previous GPON technology.

In addition, Viettel also promotes upgrading submarine fiber optic cable infrastructure, deploying fiber optic cable infrastructure up to 500,000 km, covering 100% of villages.

Also in August 2025,FPT Telecom launched the SpeedX solution integrating XGS-PON and Wi-Fi 7 technology, bringing new internet connection standards to users.

The solution allows millions of users to experience symmetrical internet speeds of up to 10 Gbps, download data in less than 10 seconds, connect nearly 100 devices at the same time, ready for smart applications and technologies such as AR/VR, smart home, 8K streaming and cloud computing.

New connectivity technology aims to meet the practical need that a family today can own dozens of smart devices, from smartphones, computers, smart TVs, security cameras, smarthome systems to high-end entertainment devices.
