Tay Ho district leaders give reasons for requesting to move 12,000 koi fish from Dong Dam

On the morning of October 30, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khuyen, Chairman of Tay Ho District People's Committee, said that Dam Dong is only allowed to grow lotus. Therefore, the district has directed Quang An ward to cancel the contract and asked the investor to move koi fish out of Dam Dong.

“Following the district’s request, the investor is moving the koi fish out of Dam Dong. The new contract will only include lotus planting to maintain the craft village according to city regulations,” said Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khuyen.

In June, a company released 12,000 koi fish (about 8 tons) into Dam Dong, at a cost of about 6 billion VND. The fish were imported from Thai Binh province, and after being released into the lake, they attracted many people to come and see. On weekends, this area attracts thousands of people.

Dong Lagoon is in the list of ponds, lakes, and lagoons that are not allowed to be filled in Hanoi . The lagoon is 3.5 hectares wide, located on Quang Ba Street, Quang An Ward, Tay Ho District, Hanoi.
