Vietnam Boxing Federation officially speaks out about the absence of Mr. Liu Xiu Bao

On the evening of September 5, the Vietnam Boxing Federation (VBF) announced that it would temporarily hand over the management power to Vice President Nguyen Duy Hung until March 2026, replacing Mr. Luu Tu Bao - the absent President of VBF.

Specifically, due to the long absence of Mr. Luu Tu Bao - the current President of VBF - the Executive Committee of VBF held an urgent meeting on the afternoon of September 5, with 25/30 members attending.

After the meeting, the VBF Executive Board informed about this incident. Accordingly, VBF said that Mr. Luu Tu Bao went to the US for family matters since February 2025 and had to deal with some personal matters so he could not return to Vietnam for the time being.

Mr. Luu Tu Bao will sign the authorization letter to manage VBF's activities for Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung - Vice President and General Secretary of VBF - in accordance with the provisions of the VBF's Charter approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs . The time from receiving the authorization letter until the end of March 2026.

During the time of not receiving the Authorization Letter from the Chairman, the Standing Committee and Executive Committee of VBF unanimously delegate the authority to operate VBF to Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung - Vice Chairman and General Secretary of VBF.

In addition, the Standing Committee and Executive Committee of VBF also authorized Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung to be the sole representative of VBF in statements related to all VBF activities.

In its announcement, VBF also said that it has not yet received any official notification from the authorities about the personal activities of Chairman Liu Xiu Bao in the past, or during the time he was not in Vietnam. Liu Xiu Bao's personal and judicial records were confirmed by the Ministry of Justice , the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism before he ran for the VBF Executive Committee for the second term (2023-2028).

The Standing Committee and Executive Committee of VBF agree that in the case of President Liu Xiu Bao personally, if there is an official conclusion from domestic and international authorities about a violation of the law; the Standing Committee and Executive Committee of VBF will organize a conference to request permission to hold an extraordinary congress to elect a new president, ensuring the smooth direction and implementation of all VBF activities in accordance with legal regulations and still ensuring the operating budget of VBF until the end of the second term (2023 - 2028).
