Livestream sales enhance agricultural product brand value

Without having to wait for traders or laboriously bring goods to the market, many farmers and cooperatives in Lao Cai now confidently use their phones to livestream to sell agricultural products. This method helps increase the value of the province's unique agricultural products and make the products more easily accessible to consumers.

In Phinh Ho commune, Mr. Sung A Tua - a Mong commune official has become the inspiration for the story of digital transformation in the highlands. Understanding the hardships of people when growing agricultural products but not knowing who to sell them to, he boldly pledged: "Everyone just keep raising and growing, I will buy your products."

Not only stopping at purchasing, Mr. Tua realized the power of technology so he built his own communication channels on social networks with the simple name "A Tua - commune cadre".

Videos recording daily work, night propaganda sessions or authentic mountain and forest scenery touched the hearts of viewers. That foundation inspired him to establish the Phinh Ho Shan Tuyet Tea Cooperative, bringing his hometown's ancient tea products to the e-commerce platform. After only 2 years, the Phinh Ho tea brand is not only famous domestically but has also conquered "difficult" markets such as the US, Japan and Korea.

"I always use my real name, real image, real job. International customers highly appreciate that honesty and transparency" - Mr. Tua shared.

Similarly, the story of Ms. Dong Thi Hien - Director of the Northwest Agricultural Production and Processing Cooperative (Yen Binh commune) is another testament to the dynamism and determination of farmers in the digital age.

Instead of relying on traditional sales channels, Ms. Hien has switched to livestreaming every day and self-producing short videos introducing products. The cooperative not only invests in processing machinery to improve product quality but also focuses on equipping modern equipment to serve sales on digital platforms.

Thanks to that, in addition to the booths on Shopee, Tiki, Lazada, the Cooperative has built TikTok and Facebook pages with high interaction, helping the products to be known and ordered by many customers, bringing stable development to the cooperative.

Sharing about her upcoming plans, Ms. Dong Thi Hien said: "The initial success is the motivation for the cooperative to further expand this superior form of sales. We do not want to keep this secret to ourselves.

The cooperative plans to connect with other cooperatives in the area, especially those owned by women, to organize joint livestreams; together build scenarios, share experiences and cross-promote products to each other. In addition, we also want to connect with young people and TikTokers in the area to spread the story of clean agricultural products in Lao Cai , creating a strong digital sales community for the whole province.

The success of individuals like Mr. Tua and Ms. Hien is not a result of individual efforts but also from the province's policies and guidelines. Lao Cai has identified digital transformation as a key task, demonstrated through the issuance of specific action plans, promoting solutions on digital government, digital economy, digital society, developing digital infrastructure and integrating technology platforms.

In the first 9 months of 2025, through the Canadian-funded SPRINT Project, Lao Cai province organized 34 training courses on livestreaming and sales skills on digital platforms for 1,400 participants, mainly cooperative members.

The Lao Cai Provincial Cooperative Alliance also plays an important role in promoting this "wave". Mr. Nguyen Duc Lam - Vice Chairman in charge of the Lao Cai Provincial Cooperative Alliance, said: "We identify supporting cooperatives in digital transformation as a key task. The Alliance not only organizes training courses on livestream and online marketing skills, but also connects and creates conditions for cooperatives to bring products, especially the province's 605 OCOP products, to e-commerce platforms. Selling via livestream helps cooperatives make their production processes transparent, build trust with consumers and directly enhance the brand value of local agricultural products."

It can be affirmed that livestream is no longer a temporary trend but has truly become a trend - an effective solution, helping to improve Lao Cai agricultural products. This form helps cooperatives expand the market, directly approaching consumers without intermediaries.

Customers can "see" the product with their own eyes, creating a high level of trust. More importantly, this form of sales helps reduce marketing and sales costs and promotes digital transformation within each cooperative. Thanks to that, many cooperatives have increased revenue by 20-50% when applying livestream regularly.

The story of 4.0 farmers in Lao Cai continues to be written every day. With confidence, creativity and the support of the government, they not only master their land, crops and livestock but also master technology, confidently bringing the unique agricultural products of the highland and border area to reach far and wide.
