In his opening speech, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Duong Hoai Nam emphasized that this is an opportunity to review the 80-year journey of fighting for independence, building and developing the country, and at the same time affirm the close bond between Vietnam and the Czech Republic.
“We can be proud of the achievements we have made, but more importantly, we look to the future with confidence and aspiration,” Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam emphasized.
Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam reviewed the outstanding achievements of the Doi Moi process over the past four decades. Vietnam has maintained a rapid and sustainable growth rate, aiming to become one of the 20 largest economies in the world; expanded trade relations with more than 220 partners, cooperated with 500 international organizations; signed 17 free trade agreements, including the EVFTA with the European Union, an agreement of strategic significance in connecting Vietnam with the European market.
Regarding bilateral relations, 2025 is considered a special milestone when the two countries officially upgraded their relationship to a Strategic Partnership, during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to Prague at the beginning of the year. This is an important step forward, opening up prospects for more comprehensive and deeper cooperation, based on the foundation of traditional friendship, political trust and effective cooperation in many fields.
Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam expressed his hope for the early opening of a direct flight between Vietnam and Czech Republic, considering this a great opportunity to promote trade and tourism exchanges and strengthen people-to-people connections between the two countries.

Mr. Kmoníček is proud that SKODA cars are manufactured right in Vietnam, or when Vietnamese pilots fly Czech L-39 aircraft over Hanoi during the National Day celebration.
Ambassador Hynek Kmoníček believes that the direct flight route Hanoi-Prague will soon be established, contributing to effectively exploiting the visa exemption policy and bringing the people of the two countries closer together.
