According to a VNA reporter in New Delhi, on the evening of September 30, the Vietnamese Embassy in India solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (1945-2025), marking a glorious historical milestone of the nation.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education , as the Chief Guest, representing the Government of India.
In addition, the ceremony also had the honor of welcoming leaders of Indian political parties, heads of diplomatic missions of member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), important partners of Vietnam, along with a large number of guests and the Vietnamese community living, working and studying in India.
At the beginning of the ceremony, in a solemn and calm atmosphere, delegates performed the flag-saluting ceremony of Vietnam and India.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Hai emphasized the historical significance of September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, opening a new era in the history of the Vietnamese nation.
Over the past eight decades, Vietnam has transformed itself from a poor, war-torn country into a dynamic, vibrant nation with an increasingly high position in the international arena.
According to Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai, after nearly 40 years of implementing the Doi Moi process, Vietnam has emerged as one of the most open and fastest growing economies in Asia, ranked among the 32 largest economies in the world and in the top 20 in terms of trade and foreign direct investment attraction.
Along with economic growth, Vietnam has achieved many important social advances, from poverty reduction, free universal education, administrative reform to improving the quality of health services.
Regarding international relations, the Ambassador emphasized that Vietnam consistently pursues a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation, diversification and multilateralization. Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with all 193 member states of the United Nations and has strategic partnerships or comprehensive strategic partnerships with 30 countries, including India.
Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai said that the Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has been, is, and will continue to develop strongly in the fields of economics, defense, culture, education, and technology.
The Ambassador emphasized: “The two countries maintain high political trust, closely coordinate at international forums, and work towards the common goal: Vietnam becomes a high-income country by 2045, India becomes a developed country by 2047, for peace, cooperation and sustainable development of the region and the world.”
The Ambassador also expressed his gratitude for India's long-term support in human resource training and skills development, and affirmed that cooperation initiatives in education, culture, technology and trade are opening up many new opportunities, strengthening the friendship and connecting the two peoples.
Also at the ceremony, Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary expressed his admiration and deep affection for Vietnam, emphasizing that the 80th anniversary of National Day is a special occasion to honor the national pride and resilience of the Vietnamese people, as well as the journey of prosperous development in the 21st century.
On behalf of the Government and people of India, he extended warm congratulations to the Government and people of Vietnam and all Vietnamese friends attending the event.
He affirmed that India-Vietnam relations have a long history, are culturally and spiritually connected, and are today strengthened through trade, investment, leadership exchanges and cooperation mechanisms.
He emphasized that important areas of cooperation, from agriculture, education, heritage conservation, technology to aviation, etc., all contribute to creating a sustainable foundation for knowledge exchange, people-to-people connection and common development. He affirmed that India is committed to continuing to strengthen friendship, cooperation and extensive links with Vietnam, to bring long-term benefits to both peoples.
In the solemn atmosphere of the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai and Secretary of State Jayant Chaudhary raised their glasses to celebrate and cut the cake to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam National Day.
At the end of the ceremony, in a cozy atmosphere, all guests enjoyed traditional Vietnamese dishes and special Indian cuisine, creating intimate and close cultural exchange moments.
