On the evening of September 29, when she had to go through Cat Cat village (Hoang Lien commune, Sa Pa town, Lao Cai province), Ms. Ngoc Anh suddenly witnessed the flood water rushing in like a waterfall.

The dangerous scene that could cause a landslide at any time made Ms. Anh quickly take out her phone to record and share it on her personal page with the aim of warning people and tourists to be careful when coming to Sa Pa as well as mountainous areas at risk of flooding due to heavy rains and floods.

It is known that due to the impact of storm No. 10, water from upstream flows into Thac Tien Sa stream in Cat Cat village, carrying a large amount of muddy soil, posing many dangers. Ms. Anh herself is currently stuck in Sa Pa and cannot return to Lao Cai to work.

According to a quick survey by Dan Tri reporters, most tours to Sa Pa currently support customers to change or postpone their schedules. A travel agency based in Hanoi said that right from the time of storm No. 10, this agency proactively contacted hotels to support customers to change their schedules.

Specifically, for those who need to change their schedule to October, they will not be refunded, only supported to reserve their tickets. When the routes in Sa Pa are open again, customers will be supported to choose the date and hotel according to their needs.

Currently, the price of the combo to Sa Pa that the unit is offering on the market (including a sleeper cabin bus and hotel) ranges from 1 to 2 million VND/passenger/trip. The unit representative said that they have about 60 passengers stuck in Sa Pa up to now.

Speaking to Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Ha Quoc Trung, Head of Tourism Development Management Department of Lao Cai Province Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that as of noon on September 30, the total number of international tourists staying at Sa Pa National Tourist Area stranded due to the impact of storms and rains included Sa Pa ward (about 3,792 tourists of 68 nationalities), Ban Ho commune (27 tourists). Other localities have not yet recorded any stranded tourists.

Through preliminary discussions with the Provincial Traffic Management Board, it is basically possible to clear the Lao Cai - Sa Pa route on the morning of October 1 due to the continued appearance of some landslides.

Faced with the situation of many tourists being stuck and unable to leave Sa Pa, Mr. Pham Cao Vy, Chairman of the Lao Cai Tourism Association, and members of the Tourism Association called on units to join hands to support tourists with practical activities such as reducing room rates, reducing meal prices, reducing bus fares, or having other forms of support to share the burden with tourists.

Mr. Vy believes that this is not only a timely help, but also a strong message about the humane spirit, responsibility and solidarity of the Sa Pa tourism business community. Today's sharing will build trust and attachment among tourists, contributing to building the image of Sa Pa as a safe, friendly and sustainable destination.

To ensure the safety of tourists, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lao Cai province also recommends that tourist attractions, travel businesses and accommodation establishments proactively develop storm response plans, closely monitor weather developments, and suspend or adjust sightseeing and tour programs in dangerous areas (at risk of landslides, flooding and flash floods).

Along with that, these units need to promptly inform tourists about weather conditions, plans to adjust schedules to ensure safety, arrange 24/7 forces and prepare equipment to evacuate tourists when necessary.
