Duc Phuc visited poet Nguyen Duy's home to thank him.

(Dan Tri) - After winning the international music competition, singer Duc Phuc visited poet Nguyen Duy - author of the song "Vietnamese Bamboo".

Recently, after returning to Ho Chi Minh City, Duc Phuc visited the private home of poet Nguyen Duy - author of the famous poem Vietnamese Bamboo .

Duc Phuc gave the poet flowers and a wooden Daruma doll as a gift. They both talked about the song Vietnamese Bamboo, Duc Phuc's performance in Russia.

The male singer told the poet: "I am very grateful to you for Vietnamese Bamboo . My generation got to read and learn this poem, and to this day I still know every line by heart. The work creates very strong emotions for me."

Poet Nguyen Duy signed and presented singer Duc Phuc with a newly published poetry collection. He said he was very touched that young people knew how to exploit traditional cultural entertainment to create unique works and performances.

At the age of nearly 80, poet Nguyen Duy suffered two strokes. His hands trembled, making daily activities more difficult than before. However, he kept a clear mind, remembering clearly the circumstances of his creation and the memories of each work.

The poem Vietnamese Bamboo was written by him in 1969, on the march, when he was only 21 years old. That year, he had just joined the army for 3 years, and his heart was always filled with homesickness, with his hometown in Vu village (Do Len, Ha Trung, Thanh Hoa ).

He shared: "I wrote the poem naturally, without any technique. I described the bamboo tree from the bottom to the top. I wrote the first few lines in one go without editing, but the following lines were revised many times.

I am happy that after more than 50 years, many audiences still know and read the lines: "Green bamboo/Since when has it been green/Once upon a time... there was a green bamboo bank/Thin trunks, fragile leaves/But how could they form a wall or a fortress, oh bamboo?"... Many people who mention Nguyen Duy are mentioning the poem " Vietnamese Bamboo ".

On the evening of September 20, the final round of the Intervision 2025 international music competition was held at the Live Arena stadium (Moscow, Russia) with the participation of contestants from many countries and territories, such as: Vietnam, China, India, Cuba, Venezuela, Egypt, South Africa, USA, Kazakhstan... In which, the representative of Vietnam is singer Duc Phuc.

In the end, Duc Phuc won with an explosive performance of Phu Dong Thien Vuong, bringing home a prize of 30 million rubles (equivalent to 9 billion VND).

The song Phu Dong Thien Vuong - composed by musician Ho Hoai Anh - was inspired by the poem Vietnamese Bamboo by poet Nguyen Duy.
