Luan Thanh strives to implement environmental criteria

Coming to Thong Nhat village these days, the feeling of a livable countryside is gradually appearing. On some main roads of the village, pots of portulaca and bougainvillea in full bloom are placed on both sides of the road, adding to the peaceful beauty of the mountainous region. Mr. Cam Ba Thanh, head of Thong Nhat village, excitedly said: The village was recognized as a new rural area in 2016 and is on track to reach the advanced new rural area goal in 2026. At this time, the village has achieved about 70 - 80% of the advanced new rural criteria.

To maintain and improve the quality of criteria, including environmental criteria, in addition to signing a contract with Lam Son Environment Joint Stock Company to collect household waste, Thong Nhat village also implements a cleaning movement in residential areas. Every week, on Saturday afternoons, the general cleaning movement of village roads and alleys launched by mass organizations attracts the participation of a large number of villagers. Thanks to that, village roads and alleys are always clean and tidy. Planting flowers and shade trees along both sides of the road has received the approval and support of the villagers. Up to now, the rate of people planting flower roads and shade trees on village roads has reached over 60%. Aiming to build a "bright - green - clean - beautiful" rural environment, the village's lighting system has been installed on some main roads, reaching about 20%.

In addition to Thong Nhat village, in many villages such as Quyet Tien, Quyet Thang, Trung Nam... people have been aware of maintaining public hygiene, so village roads and alleys are always clean.

It is known that before the merger, both Xuan Cao and Luan Thanh communes had reached the NTM commune finish line. Therefore, in order to complete the advanced NTM criteria, including the environmental criteria, immediately after stabilizing the new organizational structure, Luan Thanh commune focused on improving the rural environment in the direction of bright - green - clean - beautiful. Chairman of the People's Committee of Luan Thanh commune, Ngo Van Tuong said: "Determining the environmental criteria as a difficult criterion to implement in the set of criteria for building a NTM, the locality has strengthened propaganda work, raising awareness and responsibility of people in participating in building the residential environment, towards a bright - green - clean - beautiful environmental space... At the same time, directing organizations and unions such as the Veterans Association, Women's Association, Youth Union as the core force to well organize response activities such as: " World Environment Day", "Earth Hour", "Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation Week", Campaign "Make the World Cleaner"...

Through these activities, organizations and unions have organized for members to clean up village roads and alleys on certain days of the week and month. 100% of villages have signed contracts with collection units to collect and treat waste centrally, with a collection rate of over 60%. The remaining areas that have not been collected centrally are mostly due to scattered households and difficult roads, so garbage trucks cannot enter. For these households, the commune has propagated and encouraged them to treat waste by burning or digging holes in their gardens, and most households have complied, so there is no more littering on the streets. The movement of planting flowers and shade trees along the roads has received the consensus and response of the people. Up to now, over 70% of commune roads and some village roads have been planted with flowers and shade trees by the people.

Mr. Ngo Van Tuong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Luan Thanh Commune, added: To implement environmental criteria, the Resolution of the 1st Party Congress of the Commune (term 2025-2030) has set implementation targets such as by 2030, 100% of households in the commune will use hygienic water; 53% of households will use clean water according to the standards of the Ministry of Health and 95% of solid waste will be collected and treated on the main roads of the commune and villages... Contributing to the implementation of this goal, in addition to continuing to promote propaganda and mobilize people to beautify the landscape and ensure environmental sanitation in residential areas, the commune will mobilize maximum resources; take advantage of external resources together with the people to implement these goals, striving by 2035, Luan Thanh commune will complete 19/19 criteria to reach the finish line of an advanced NTM commune.
