Russian and Ukrainian forces clash fiercely at Krasny Liman

“In the direction of Krasny Liman, units of the Center, artillery, attack aircraft and troops repelled five attacks by assault detachments of the 63rd and 67th Mechanized Brigades (Armed Forces of Ukraine) and the 5th National Guard Brigade in the Torsky area, Serebryanskoye forest,” Group spokesman Alexander Savchuk told TASS.

According to Mr. Savchuk, Kiev forces lost 40 soldiers and a pickup truck. About 15 artillery pieces were also destroyed by Russian counter-fire.

Russian forces also intercepted a Ukrainian reconnaissance group west of Novodonetskoye and destroyed an ammunition depot near Staromayorskoye.

Using Lancet suicide drones, the Vostok Force Group destroyed a US-made M109 self-propelled gun and a BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launcher near Elizavetovka, a D-20 towed gun near Novoukrainka and an Akatsiya self-propelled gun near Novoivanovka. In addition, the artillery of the Vostok Group of Forces destroyed two Polish-made Gvozdika and Krab self-propelled guns, one US-made M777 towed gun and four mortars near Novolubovka, Novosergeevka and Stepovaya Novoselovka.

“The total enemy losses amounted to more than two companies, one tank, one drone, one minibus and one pickup truck,” the group said in a press release.

Additionally, Russian sources shared videos of several recent air and artillery strikes targeting Ukrainian positions and equipment in different directions.

It is worth noting that the Russian Defense Ministry reported an attack by Ukrainian forces using suicide drones in the Bryansk and Belgorod regions late on October 12.

“An attempt by the Kiev authorities to carry out a drone attack was prevented at around 10 p.m. Moscow time on October 12,” the ministry said in a statement.

“Two Ukrainian drones were detected and destroyed by air defense systems over the territory of Bryansk region and Belgorod region.”

Ukraine launched its counter-offensive more than four months ago. During this time, Kiev’s forces have suffered heavy losses in manpower and equipment as they have tried to advance. However, they have not been able to penetrate the Russian defenses in any direction.
