The reason why Vietnam's team won the match still makes fans worried

The Vietnamese team had a difficult match against Hong Kong (China). Coach Troussier and his team only won 1-0 thanks to Que Ngoc Hai's penalty kick. However, most fans were not satisfied with the start of the Vietnamese team under Coach Troussier.

Controversial penalty

In the 31st minute, center back Helio Goncalves of the Hong Kong (China) team collided with Nguyen Quang Hai. Referee Bin Tuan Mohd Yassin immediately blew the whistle for a penalty for the Vietnamese team and this decision was met with protests from the Hong Kong (China) players.

The Vietnamese team had no choice but to pass the ball out wide to Doan Van Hau and Ho Tan Tai. The crosses from this duo were rarely effective because the strikers inside did not occupy important positions. In short, the Vietnamese team did not have a good enough defense, the connection was not high but it was understandable. Coach Troussier was in the process of rebuilding the team according to a new philosophy and he needed time to help the players understand his ideas.
