Madam Pang makes history after FIFA's unprecedented decision

(Dan Tri) - Madam Pang (real name Nualphan Lamsam), President of the Football Federation of Thailand, has become the first woman in the world to be appointed as President of the FIFA Development Committee.

On October 7, the International Football Federation (FIFA) officially appointed Madam Pang, President of the Football Association of Thailand, as Chairwoman of the Development Committee for the 2025–2029 term. This is the first time in history that a woman has taken on the highest leadership position of this Committee.

The Development Committee is one of the most important Standing Committees of FIFA, under President Gianni Infantino and the FIFA Council.

The committee is responsible for policy formulation, planning and monitoring of global football development projects, including 211 member associations, and supporting continental and regional football confederations to promote the sustainable development of the game .

Thai tradition holds that Madam Pang's selection for this position is considered a historic turning point, not only for Thai football but also for world football, as she becomes the first woman to be given the highest leadership responsibility in the field of FIFA development.

This event once again affirms the role, capacity and growing influence of the Thai female billionaire in regional and international football.

Along with that, FIFA also appointed Mr. Lertsak Pathanchaykul, Council Member of the Football Association of Thailand, to the position of Permanent Member of the Member Associations Committee, contributing to enhancing the position of Thai football in the international arena.

On the Vietnamese side, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan, President of VFF, was also appointed as a member of FIFA's National Team Competition Committee for the 2025-2029 term. VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu was appointed by FIFA to join the Medical Committee, while Deputy General Secretary Nguyen Thanh Ha was appointed to the Women's Football Committee.
