According to Rosaviatsia, the accident occurred on the morning of January 21 when a Russian Falcon 10 aircraft was flying over the Badakhshan province, northeastern Afghanistan. This was an ambulance flight with a crew of 4 and 2 Indian passengers on the way from Gaya (India) to the capital Moscow (Russia).

The spokesman for the Taliban government in Afghanistan, Abdul Wahid Rayan, said the plane crashed due to engine failure. However, the spokesman said there were seven Russians on board and the plane was owned by a Moroccan company.

Rescue forces were dispatched to the scene, but this is a remote mountainous area and it took the rescue team 12 hours to reach it.

On the Indian side, the country's civil aviation authority confirmed that the crashed plane was not a regular commercial flight and said it would release more information when it had more information.

The Falcon 10 is an aircraft manufactured by the French company Dassault. It was built between 1971 and 1989, but is still quite popular on the secondary market.
