In the small hamlet of group 14 (Phuoc Am village), student Tran Thi Mo and her 75-year-old grandmother depend on each other for the job of collecting scrap metal. Orphaned by her mother at a young age and father at the age of 3, misfortunes have struck her one after another, but she remains steadfast in her determination to learn.
Tran Thi Mo is one of the cases prioritized for help by the Women's Union of Thang An Commune (formerly Binh Trieu Commune). In particular, since 2022, when the "Godmother" program was implemented, Mo has been sponsored by the association.
Even after the administrative unit arrangement process, the Commune Women's Union still promptly visited and encouraged, not allowing the support to be interrupted. In the 2025-2026 school year, Tran Thi Mo is a student of class 10/1, Tieu La High School, Thang Binh Commune.
Mo shared: “I feel lucky to have been sponsored by the women’s association, helping me have the conditions to study. I will try to study well and then have a job to come back and help my friends who are also orphans like me.”

Although the merger and arrangement process has caused some difficulties in connecting and maintaining resources, the Women's Union of Thang An commune still identifies this as a program with profound humanistic meaning and needs to continue to be implemented.
Ms. Ho Thi My Le, President of the Women's Union of Thang An commune, said that with prestige and the spirit of sharing, the association has mobilized benefactors inside and outside the commune to regularly sponsor each case, with an average support level of 300,000 VND/month, committed to support until the end of the high school year.
The Women's Union of Thang An commune has just successfully organized the Congress for the 2025 - 2030 term. Among the programs agreed upon by the Congress to be implemented in the new term, there are active activities to mobilize sponsors to sponsor disadvantaged children, helping them continue their education story.
“In the 2025 - 2030 term, we will pay more attention to the “Godmother” program. This timely encouragement not only provides material support but also a solid spiritual support, sending a warm message “You always have a mother” to orphans, opening up a brighter future for them,” said Ms. Ho Thi My Le.
