The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just approved the policy of supporting operating costs for metro line No. 1 to provide free service to people during the two upcoming major Tet holidays.

Urban Railway One Member Co., Ltd. No. 1 (operating unit) in coordination with Hoa Sen Advertising Trading Joint Stock Company organized a sponsorship program to help people travel on metro line No. 1 for free on January 1, 2026 (New Year's Day) and February 16 and 17, 2026 (December 29 and the first day of Lunar New Year).

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Urban Railway Company No. 1 to proactively coordinate with the Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center and related units to comply with regulations. At the same time, complete legal procedures and fully receive comments from departments and branches.

Units such as the Department of Culture and Sports , Department of Finance, Department of Construction and the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board are responsible for monitoring, guiding, inspecting and reporting to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee when difficulties arise.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day, September 2, metro line 1 also exempted 100% of ticket prices for people during the day.

On that day, people only need to use their chip-attached ID card to scan at the gate or create an "Independent" QR code on the HCMC Metro HURC app to board the train for free.

6 metro stations stop selling paper tickets, payment is completely automatic

From October 1, 2025, Urban Railway Company No. 1 will expand the pilot program to stop selling paper tickets at Tan Cang and Rach Chiec stations, bringing the total number of stations that stop selling paper tickets to 6: City Theater, Ba Son, Van Thanh Park, Phuoc Long, Tan Cang and Rach Chiec.

People can buy tickets in cash at automatic ticket vending machines (TVM), scan bank cards or e-wallets at ticket kiosks, or buy on the HCMC Metro HURC app.
