Central region experiences bad weather combination, causing heavy rain

The Central region is about to experience a complex weather combination when a long period of heavy rain combines with cold air moving down from the North.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from the night of October 18 to the morning of October 19, the area from Thanh Hoa to Quang Ngai experienced showers, some places had very heavy rain. Some points (stations) measured heavy rainfall such as Nong Truong 15 ( Nghe An province) 119.2mm, Mai Lam (Thanh Hoa province) 77mm, Dien Truong wholesale market (Quang Ngai province) 57.2mm.

The meteorological agency said that in the next 24-48 hours, the area from Nghe An to Quang Ngai will continue to have moderate to very heavy rain, with some places exceeding 220mm. The rain will be most concentrated from South Quang Tri to Quang Ngai with an intensity of over 80mm in 3 hours, along with the risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. From October 20, the rain will tend to decrease but will still be complicated due to the influence of a cold air mass strengthening from the North.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting also informed that the water level on rivers in Hue City is fluctuating above alert level 1. At 7:00 a.m. today, the flood level on the Bo River at Phu Oc station was 2.76m - 0.24m below alert level 2; on the Huong River at Kim Long station was 1.05m - 0.05m above alert level 1. From today, October 19, to tomorrow, October 20, on rivers in Hue, there is a possibility of a flood with the peak of the flood possibly reaching alert level 1 to 2.

This morning, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting also said that the cold air mass has approached the border of our country and will affect the Northeast region today, October 19, then expand to the entire North, North Central and part of the Central Central region from October 20 to 22. The wind will change to Northeast level 2-3, coastal areas level 3-4. From the night of October 20, the North and Thanh Hoa will have cold nights and mornings, mountainous areas will be cold, the lowest temperature is commonly 19-21 degrees Celsius, mountainous areas 17-19 degrees Celsius, some places below 16 degrees Celsius.

In Hanoi, the night and morning of October 20th will turn cold. Meteorological experts warn that the combination of cold air combined with high-altitude easterly wind disturbances is the main cause of this widespread heavy rain in the Central region.
