Dr. Nguyen Duc Hien has made many contributions to bringing the Vietnamese folk Mother Goddess worship to the international level. Recently, he collaborated with many units to open a warehouse of "royal scarves and gowns" to introduce the Mother Goddess worship and the performance of Hau Dong to a large number of tourists. Tien Huong Palace, founded by Dr. Nguyen Duc Hien, is a place to worship the Saints in the Four Palaces system, with Mother Lieu Hanh holding the central position. Wishing to create a sacred yet intimate space, artisan Nguyen Duc Hien designed the palace in the traditional Dinh-shaped architecture, including the main shrine and two horizontal houses to worship the gods, Thanh Hoang and ancestors. In January 2024, Tien Huong Palace was recognized by the Vietnam Record Organization as a Mother Goddess Temple with a unique system of arched doors, decorated with many motifs of Fairies, Gods, and Saints. Previously, in October 2023, the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations recognized this place as a spiritual cultural heritage. (Photo: Minh Thu/Vietnam+)
"Royal scarf and dress" is a very important part of the practice of Mother Goddess worship. Through it, the medium incarnates into Saints and Gods. (Photo: PV/Vietnam+)
In each altar, the medium transforms into a male/female god/goddess of the Mother Goddess worship, wearing the specific costume of that god. The Mother Goddess worship not only spreads the unique cultural beauty of the nation, but also contains profound educational values: Nurturing goodness and beauty in the soul; cultivating the gratitude of the young generation towards their parents and ancestors, as well as remembering the merits of heroes who built and defended the country. Mr. Nguyen Duc Hien is also known as a "cultural ambassador" introducing Hau Dong on the international television channel CNN, the first person to bring Hau Dong costumes to the contemporary fashion stage, a typical face in the community of propagating Mother Goddess worship, regularly accepting invitations to participate in international cultural and friendship events. Tien Huong Palace is a palace built by him, used as a place to store the heritage of Mother Goddess Religion, for international cultural exchange, and to help mediums practice their beliefs. Mr. Hien said: "I want everyone who comes to the palace to feel like they are coming home, immersed in a life close to nature, returning to their true selves, not a space of ghosts and superstitions." Legend has it that he was the tenth son of the King of the Water Kingdom of Dongting. Under the King's command, he descended to earth, incarnated as a mortal to help the people. (Photo: PV/Vietnam+)
Although there are many different stories surrounding him, they all portray him as an honest, upright person who often helped the people. (Photo: Minh Thu/Vietnam+)
He was a man of both literary and martial arts ability, both helping people fight enemies and being talented in poetry. (Photo: PV/Vietnam+)
