Originally an artist and vocal lecturer working at the Hanoi College of Arts, it was an advantage for Kien Ninh to start composing songs. In recent years, Kien Ninh has made a regular plan to release at least one product each year to the public. And the special and meaningful July days of 2024 were chosen by him and his team to launch a new song called "Immortal Epic".

"Immortal Epic" is a music video with the theme, content, and meaning to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed themselves for the country and the fatherland. The MV was made quite elaborately when musician Kien Ninh, People's Artist Quoc Hung and the entire crew went directly to Quang Tri to shoot the images.

Sharing about the MV "Immortal Heroic Song", musician Kien Ninh said: "The MV is a story that recounts the fierce battle of the past at Quang Tri Citadel. Therefore, Anh Quan and I came up with the idea of ​​​​recording People's Artist Quoc Hung as the narrator. In the MV, there will be a flashback story interwoven between reality and the past. Reality is the image of the soldier returning to visit the old battlefield, visiting his comrades... In the flashback scenes, we used the images and videos of the uncles and aunts that year in the battle in this heroic land of Quang Tri."

"It seemed like there was some kind of energy urging me, and I seemed to have caught the precious emotional thread that I had been searching for for so long. So I immediately started writing the main melody, the main melody with the main lyrics from the 4 verses above, after completing this melody in the chorus. The other melody lines in "The Immortal Heroic Song" were composed by Kien Ninh himself, continuing from the current lyrical content and emotions. To complete the song, right during the writing process, Kien Ninh read and learned more about the context of the poem's creation, origin, as well as all the stories surrounding the battle at Quang Tri Citadel, by the sacred Thach Han River. Kien Ninh searched, read, and listened to as much as he could" - Musician Kien Ninh shared about the idea of ​​making the MV "The Immortal Heroic Song".

Talking about the name of the new MV, musician Kien Ninh revealed that at first he intended to name the song after the poem: "Words of a Riverman". Because this poem is already known to almost everyone. The poem is very touching, engraved on the Memorial Stele on the flower lantern wharf along the Thach Han River. And it seems that the poem has been deeply engraved in the hearts of every Vietnamese person.

But then, musician Kien Ninh decided to name the work "Immortal Epic". Because he wanted the meaning and message of the work to be broader. Because musician Kien Ninh wanted to emphasize: Although the story of the old battle was full of hardship, fierceness, many losses and sorrows, it was also full of heroism. The battle at Quang Tri Citadel has become a symbol of revolutionary heroism, a symbol of indomitable spirit, fierce patriotism, immortalized in the heroic pages of history of the Vietnamese people.

"The Immortal Epic was written by Kien Ninh in a minor key, with a structure of two simple sections. The song leads listeners to two emotional states: soft and mournful, interwoven with heroic and rejoicing. Kien Ninh entrusted the song to musician Ha Trung to arrange in the Epic, Pop ballad classic style. The performance is a solo vocal through the deep, full and heroic voice of People's Artist Quoc Hung, interwoven with the backing vocals of a female vocal group. In particular, the appearance of the female vocal in the middle of the interlude is intentional. It creates a nostalgic color, like the sound of heroic martyrs echoing from a sacred space," musician Kien Ninh added.

According to musician Kien Ninh, he and People's Artist Quoc Hung have had a close relationship for decades. In real life, he is the nephew of People's Artist Quoc Hung's family, and at work, he is a colleague who works closely with People's Artist Quoc Hung in most of the male artist's musical products.

According to Kien Ninh, having worked in the studio for so many years, People's Artist Quoc Hung's voice is very familiar to Kien Ninh. It can be said that he understands the strongest points, the best vocal range, and the expressive colors that can make the People's Artist most absorbed. And so, since Kien Ninh started composing, almost all of his compositions have been aimed at the suitability of People's Artist Quoc Hung's voice.

"For Kien Ninh, in works with orthodox colors, revolutionary lyricism and especially songs with heroic and grandiose nature, Kien Ninh, from the moment he started writing, wanted to entrust them to People's Artist Quoc Hung. After 20 years of working with People's Artist Quoc Hung through many programs, projects and musical works, Kien Ninh found that this is a voice with profound transmission, full of inner strength and the ability to spread to the public. The voice itself has the power to convey emotions, thickness, and depth of soul that few people have," he said.

Therefore, People's Artist Quoc Hung did not hesitate to immediately agree when musician Kien Ninh asked the male artist to perform "Immortal Heroic Song". As the main singer in the MV "Immortal Heroic Song", People's Artist Quoc Hung shared: "Right from the moment the first melodies of the song came up from the emotional verses, Kien Ninh called and sang it for me. At that time, I also had goosebumps. So I was even more happy to receive an official invitation to collaborate in this new music product from Kien Ninh".

For People's Artist Quoc Hung, the MV "Immortal Heroic Song" also created for him special emotions that few songs can do. The male artist said: "Every lyric, every melody in the song moved me, those are the special feelings of the poet, of the musician, of those who are lucky to have a peaceful life today with gratitude for the lyrics and music to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs. Moreover, it also helps me relive proud memories of my beloved father...

So, to sing in praise of the heroic soldiers and martyrs who fought on the Quang Tri front, for me, it is only with my own emotions, as the son of a revolutionary soldier, the son of a wounded soldier who once fought bravely alongside his comrades, determined to die for the country.

That's why People's Artist Quoc Hung not only accepted without receiving any salary but also co-produced with musician Kien Ninh in this music product.

Sharing with reporters, director Anh Quan talked about the fate of accepting the invitation of musician Kien Ninh to make this special work: "This is the second time accompanying musician Kien Ninh and People's Artist Quoc Hung to make a MV with the theme of war, paying tribute to the heroic soldiers who fell to protect the fatherland. Quan is really moved and also wants to contribute a small part of his efforts to this meaningful project. The special thing that Quan feels most clearly in the process of making this MV is the word "Spirit". When you do meaningful things, regardless of objective circumstances, you can still complete the job."

"The MV was filmed in Quang Tri, a land famous for its historic battles, as well as its extremely harsh weather, but on the day of filming the MV, as if blessed by the soldiers, the weather was very pleasant, everything went smoothly during the filming process, the last scene was in the evening, People's Artist Quoc Hung was going to release flower lanterns with the veterans when suddenly it started to rain heavily, I was really worried at that time but I also encouraged everyone that the rain would stop in a while. And as if blessed, the rain stopped, the last scene was completed completely...", director Anh Quan emphasized.
