On the afternoon of September 2, information from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province said that the unit received information from the Forest Protection Department of Xuyen Moc district about the case of 1 person dying of unknown cause at plot 8, sub-area 28 of Binh Chau - Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve (in the territory of Binh Chau commune, Xuyen Moc district).

According to initial information, on the evening of September 1, Ms. VTH (residing in Binh Tien hamlet, Binh Chau commune) went to the commune police station to report that her husband, Mr. NMC (38 years old), had left home on the afternoon of August 31 to go sawing trees but had not returned. Ms. H. also called many relatives to look for him, but no one knew where Mr. C. was.

After that, Ms. H. asked her brother to look for him and discovered that Mr. C. had died after being crushed by a tree in the conservation forest area in the Binh Chau - Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve. After receiving the information, the Binh Chau Forest Protection Station - Xuyen Moc District Forest Protection Department sent officers to the scene to coordinate with the Xuyen Moc District Police to verify.

Through preliminary inspection, the area where Mr. C. had the accident had a cajuput tree cut into two pieces. Mr. C.’s body was taken out of the forest and handed over to his family for burial. The cause of the incident is being investigated and clarified by the police.

It is known that Binh Chau - Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve has an area of ​​10,537 hectares and is the only remaining relatively intact coastal primeval forest in Vietnam. The forest has many rare and precious woods such as: Ba Ria rosewood, red wood, honeywood, rosewood, linh nghe, and sandalwood.
