In Thai Nguyen, the rising water level of the Cau River caused flooding in more than 40 communes and wards. The entire first floor of the Thai Nguyen Electricity Company headquarters was submerged, submerging offices, warehouses and equipment, causing great damage to property, tools and production equipment. Many officers and employees also had their homes deeply flooded, isolated in the sea of water.

Despite the difficult circumstances, the staff of Thai Nguyen Electricity Company still strived to stay and coordinate with functional units to protect the safety of the power grid and people's property. Regardless of heavy rain and rising floods, the electricity workers checked the transformer stations and low-voltage lines day and night, and proactively cut off power when necessary to ensure safety.

Currently, the company is focusing on restoring and re-supplying power to customers as soon as the rain stops and the water recedes.

Information from the Safety Board - Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) said that heavy rain, flash floods, and landslides in Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Cao Bang, and Bac Ninh forced the Northern power sector to proactively cut off power to ensure safety. Units are monitoring and restoring power when conditions permit.

As of 7:00 a.m. on October 8, 2025, the 110kV power grid managed by Thai Nguyen Electricity Company with Thinh Dan transformer station had restored transformer T1 at 7:30 p.m. on October 7, 2025; Xi Mang Quang Son transformer station was energized at 8:45 p.m. on October 7, 2025. Previously, these transformer stations were forced to cut off power from October 6 to ensure operational safety.

Regarding the medium voltage power line system, 100 lines and branches in the affected areas have been proactively cut off; of which 95 lines and branches have not been restored due to the continued rising water level: Thai Nguyen (42), Lang Son (23), Bac Ninh (21), Cao Bang (9).

The total number of customers without power due to heavy rain in the area managed by EVNNPC is 478,473; of which 46,916 customers have been restored. Some areas continue to be flooded, including: Thai Nguyen (328,000 customers), Lang Son (38,232 customers), Cao Bang (19,533 customers), Bac Ninh (45,792 customers).

Some localities such as Tan Tien commune (Lang Son) had the surface of Bac Khe hydroelectric dam broken, the center of Cao Bang province was surrounded and isolated by floods, traffic roads were eroded and flooded, causing difficulties in accessing and counting the damage.

EVNNPC directed Power Companies to focus on troubleshooting and restoring power supply to customers as soon as safety conditions are ensured, while absolutely ensuring labor safety during the inspection and troubleshooting process.

According to a VNA reporter in Thai Nguyen: Since the night of October 6, due to the impact of storm No. 11, heavy rains and widespread flooding have occurred in Thai Nguyen province. As of this morning, October 8, the flooding situation in Thai Nguyen province remains very serious, with roads and residential areas in the center of the province cut off.

In particular, more than 300 transformer stations managed by Thai Nguyen Electricity Company were deeply flooded, forcing power cuts, affecting more than 200,000 customers. According to initial reports, for the medium voltage grid, about 36 medium voltage lines were damaged and flooded.

Regarding the low voltage grid, about 50 electric poles in the wards: Quang Vinh, Tan Long, Tuc Duyen, Phan Dinh Phung... were broken or tilted. Even the Thai Nguyen Electricity Company's headquarters on Hoang Van Thu Street, Phan Dinh Phung Ward was also deeply submerged in water. Thai Nguyen Electricity Company is urgently fixing the problem, ensuring the power supply to the people as soon as possible...
