(CLO) President Donald Trump said the US has "almost" lifted the suspension of intelligence sharing with Ukraine, emphasizing that the administration is doing everything possible to force Ukraine to seriously move towards a peace agreement with Russia.
In an interview on Sunday night, Mr. Trump asserted that neither side has an absolute advantage in the war. He stressed that an agreement must be reached to end the fighting, as this is a "senseless" war and the United States will take measures to prevent it.
Mr Trump said he expected good results from talks today (March 11) between the US and Ukraine in Saudi Arabia, adding that Washington had "almost" ended the suspension of intelligence sharing with Kiev.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also said Ukraine had received all US defense intelligence. "I hope we can resolve any notion of a general suspension of aid... I think what happens tomorrow will be key to that," he said.

On the eve of talks in Saudi Arabia, Russia launched air strikes on Kyiv and other parts of Ukraine, while Ukraine's air force said the country was under threat of a missile attack.
Mr Trump also expressed confidence that Ukraine could sign a deal on minerals, but more importantly, they must show their desire for peace right now. According to him, Ukraine has not yet made that clear, but that could change in the next few days.
In addition to the Ukraine issue, Mr. Trump also answered questions about possible sanctions or tariffs against Russia. He revealed that his administration is considering options, but the current focus is on a series of important upcoming meetings in Saudi Arabia, with the participation of both Russia and Ukraine.
Mr. Trump commented that all sides wanted the conflict to end, and expressed hope that significant progress would be made this week.
On the economic front , Mr. Trump asserted that the tariff policy would be “the greatest thing” for the United States, helping the economy recover and bring factories back to work. He pointed out that about 90,000 factories had closed since the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) took effect.
When asked about the risk of an economic recession, Mr. Trump did not give a direct answer, but emphasized that the US would collect hundreds of billions of dollars from tariffs and become richer than ever. He pledged to create more jobs and reopen factories, bringing long-term benefits to the US economy.
