Improving management and promoting the value of the Provincial Party Committee Base relic site

On the afternoon of April 9, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee held a working session with representatives of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DOCST) and relevant agencies and units on a number of activities at the Provincial Party Committee Base Relic Site during the resistance war against the US.

Comrade Nguyen Hoai Anh - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council chaired the meeting. Also attending were Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh, representatives of relevant departments, branches and sectors, and the People's Committee of Ham Thuan Bac district, and the Provincial Museum.

The relic site (KDT) of Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee Base during the resistance war against the US (located in Dong Giang commune, Ham Thuan Bac district) was inaugurated and put into operation from February 2023. The KDT has an area of over 10 hectares located in Sa Lon forest, including main works: Original relic site, auxiliary works (tunnel, rest hut, hall, Hoang Cam kitchen), connecting works between the original KDT and the auxiliary works area... During the operation process, the KDT Management Board deployed a number of service models to attract more tourists to visit. At the same time, it collected stories of officers and soldiers of Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee during the resistance war against the US.

The relic site receives attention from all walks of life and tourists inside and outside the province.

Up to now, the KDT has become a red address, a place to organize meaningful source activities in educating revolutionary traditions, attracting the attention of all classes of people and tourists inside and outside the province.

However, during the operation, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Management Board of the Tourist Area pointed out some difficulties. Specifically, the number of officials and employees of the Board is limited; the original tourist area is distributed in a large area, with a high slope, so the work of cleaning, ensuring the environmental landscape, serving and guiding tourists is difficult. Besides, the power source serving tourists and the Management Board's operations is not stable, especially in the rainy season, the solar power system cannot be used, and generators must be used...

At the meeting, relevant departments and branches raised many opinions and proposals to do a good job of educating local traditions. Comrade Nguyen Minh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested relevant departments to quickly speed up progress, soon complete processes and procedures to implement investment projects for a number of items serving the activities of the Management Board of the KDT; thoroughly handle dead and fallen forest trees in the KDT according to authority and regulations of law; research and advise all levels on investment in installing telephone broadcasting stations, 4G network to serve tourists, officials and employees...

Based on the actual situation, to ensure activities to effectively promote the value of the KDT in the long term, as well as diversify the province's tourism types, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hoai Anh requested the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee to continue to lead the Provincial People's Committee to direct relevant agencies and units to completely handle dead trees in the KDT before April 15. At the same time, build a process to handle other dead trees in the future. Along with that, build and submit to the Standing Committee a project to establish a Management Board and policies to support civil servants and workers working in the KDT. Direct relevant agencies to complete documents and procedures to submit to competent authorities for approval of the phase 2 KDT project, striving to start construction by the end of 2024 and complete and finalize the settlement in 2025. In addition, Ham Thuan Bac District People's Committee coordinates with functional units to survey the route from DT14 to the edge of the KDT forest. If the conditions are met according to regulations, it can propose to upgrade the road surface and widen some sections to ensure uniformity of the entire route's cross-section.

The Provincial Party Secretary also hopes that the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will pay attention, create conditions and regularly guide the cadres and workers at the tourist area to stick with their assigned tasks. Continue to collect stories, specimens, illustrative and explanatory devices using digital technology. Pay attention to exploiting a variety of service types to attract and retain tourists. In addition, Party committees, authorities and organizations at all levels continue to organize extracurricular activities at the tourist area so that generations can better understand the cultural and historical values as well as the good traditions of their ancestors...
