Will honor pioneering accommodation establishments in building smoke-free service environments

(GLO)- On October 3, Culture Newspaper in collaboration with the Tobacco Harm Prevention Fund and relevant parties launched the first "Typical Non-Tobacco Hotels" Ranking Program - 2025.

The event aims to honor pioneering accommodation establishments in building a smoke-free service environment, contributing to protecting public health and enhancing the image of civilized, safe and friendly Vietnamese tourism .

Hotels participating in the Ranking will be evaluated on a 100-point scale, including the following criteria: Compliance with laws and regulations prohibiting smoking; facilities and arrangement of smoke-free areas; communication and customer guidance; management and supervision mechanisms; initiatives and good models in maintaining a smoke-free environment; feedback and satisfaction level of visitors.

The ranked hotels will receive the Certification Decision, the Recognition Sign of “Typical Non-Smoking Hotel” in 2025 and will be widely promoted on the media of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VHTTDL), Culture Newspaper, Vietnam National Tourism Administration, Vietnam Tourism Association as well as many central and local press agencies. This is an opportunity for hotels to affirm their reputation and brand, and at the same time demonstrate their social responsibility towards community health.

The Organizing Committee will receive applications from October 3 to November 10. Participants are hotels of 3 stars or higher nationwide. The registration documents include an entry form, a self-assessment form according to the scoring criteria, a commitment and supporting documents. Units can submit applications online via the website http://baovanhoa.vn or send them directly to the headquarters of the Culture Newspaper (No. 33, Lane 294/2 Kim Ma, Ngoc Ha Ward, Hanoi City).

The Organizing Committee plans to announce the results from December 1 to December 8 on the Electronic Information Portal of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Culture Newspaper, Vietnam National Tourism Administration, Vietnam Tourism Association and on the websites of the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Departments of Tourism of provinces and cities; on social networking platforms such as Facebook, Youtube... The closing ceremony, awarding of certificates and honoring is expected to take place on December 30, 2025.

The first “Smoke-free Hotel” Ranking Program - 2025 was organized to concretize the Law on Tobacco Harm Prevention and Control and the Government's directives; at the same time, realize Vietnam's international commitment when participating in the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC). The immediate goal of the program is to search, select and honor typical hotels that have made efforts to build a smoke-free environment, thereby creating motivation for the entire industry to respond.

In the long term, the program aims to form a widespread smoke-free hotel movement, contributing to protecting people's health, reducing the burden of medical costs, improving the quality of accommodation services and affirming the green - clean - beautiful Vietnamese tourism brand. Not only stopping at awarding titles, the Ranking also affirms the right to live in a clean, smoke-free environment of all citizens; encourages smokers to reduce or quit the habit; at the same time, creating more peace of mind and trust for domestic and foreign tourists when choosing Vietnam.
