- Due to the impact of storm No. 10 (Bualoi), from the evening of September 28 to 30, 2025, due to heavy and prolonged rain, many traffic routes in Lang Son province were seriously eroded and flooded, causing local congestion and directly affecting the lives and travel of the people. In this situation, localities and road management units quickly took action, mobilizing maximum forces and vehicles to overcome the incident, ensuring smooth and safe traffic.
In recent days, at landslide sites on key traffic routes, officers and workers of road management units have persistently stayed at the scene in the rain and wind, quickly handling landslide sites. They have worked through the night, continuously working overtime to clear rocks and soil, clear sewers, and ensure vehicles can circulate safely as soon as possible.
According to the reporter's records, at the landslide point on National Highway 4A, section Km40 + 880 in Trang Dinh commune, early in the morning of October 1, 2025, a large volume of rock and soil estimated at over 320m3 from the positive slope suddenly collapsed, covering part of the road surface, affecting this vital traffic route.
Mr. Vi Van Dan, Director of Lang Son Traffic Construction and Management Joint Stock Company, said: As soon as the incident occurred, we urgently mobilized excavators, bulldozers and human resources to the scene to handle it. By noon of the same day, the road was completely open to traffic. Currently, the unit is in charge of managing 3 national highways (1B, 4A, 279) with a length of 256 km, 8 provincial roads with a total length of over 240 km and a number of district roads... with a total length of nearly 200 km. Due to the impact of the recent storm No. 10, 282 landslides occurred on the traffic routes managed by the unit, with an estimated volume of over 10,000 m3, and estimated damage of nearly 2.7 billion VND. As soon as the landslide incident occurred, the unit mobilized excavators, bulldozers and human resources to the scene to handle it. Up to now, the roads have been completely open to traffic.
In addition, before each rainy and stormy season, the company has assigned specific tasks to officers and employees in charge of the routes to organize road patrols, conduct inspections, and promptly detect damages for immediate repair. At the same time, prepare machinery, equipment, and materials such as: various types of cars, excavators, rollers, hand saws, iron baskets, etc. to be ready to respond promptly when incidents occur.
Similarly, Construction Development and Trade Joint Stock Company No. 909 is also a unit that regularly maintains and repairs a number of roads in the province. Mr. Ngo Minh Hieu, Deputy Director of the company, said: the unit is assigned to manage and maintain 6 provincial roads with a length of nearly 300 km. During the recent storm No. 10, 40 landslides occurred on the routes managed by the unit, with an estimated volume of about 6,000 m3. As soon as the landslide occurred, the unit mobilized excavators, bulldozers and human resources to the scene to handle it, and so far the roads have been completely opened to traffic. In addition, we are always ready with full supplies, equipment and machinery such as: cars, excavators, steel cages, rocks of all kinds... to promptly fix if there are storms that damage the roads, to ensure smooth traffic.
According to statistics from the Department of Construction, the whole province currently has a system of hardened border patrol roads with a length of 126.3 km; 24 provincial roads with a length of 717 km; 7 national highways with a length of 588 km; 110 district roads with a length of 1,386 km. To ensure safe and smooth traffic without congestion, the Provincial Department of Construction has promptly directed its specialized departments and divisions to coordinate with local authorities and contracted units to repair and maintain the roads to quickly resolve the situation and avoid traffic safety and congestion.
Mr. Hoang Viet Dong, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction, said: In order to ensure traffic safety and prevent traffic jams during storms, the department requires relevant departments and enterprises to strictly implement the policy of "proactive prevention, avoidance, timely response, urgent and effective remediation". The organization and implementation of the "4 on-site" motto include: on-site forces - on-site command - on-site materials and logistics - on-site equipment" in ensuring traffic safety and construction safety during the storm season. Up to now, 100% of national highways, provincial roads, and district roads in the province have been cleared, with no traffic jams occurring.
In the coming time, the storm situation is forecast to continue to have complex and unpredictable developments. The functional agencies in the province, especially the Provincial Department of Construction, continue to request the affiliated units, coordinate with local authorities, contract units for maintenance and repair of roads to effectively apply information technology to check and monitor; be on duty and promptly detect and handle incidents on the roads whenever storms occur, thereby contributing to ensuring traffic safety and smooth traffic.
