Large , many units in Quang Ninh province have invested in technology to process and prepare aquaculture products, in which Tat Thanh Seafood Joint Stock Company in Lien Hoa ward has invested in MAP gas technology to package products, helping to preserve and maintain the quality of fresh food longer.
The input material is ocean oysters raised by Tat Thanh Seafood Joint Stock Company in Lien Hoa ward and cooperates with local cooperatives and farming households and Ha An ward to purchase for daily production activities. After the ocean oysters are shelled and their intestines are taken out, they are put into an ozone aeration system to remove heavy metals and especially Ecoli bacteria in food. After this process, the ocean oyster intestines are packaged by the Company using MAP improved gas technology. With this technology, it helps to preserve food for longer and maintain quality, ensuring food hygiene and safety.

Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong, Director of Tat Thanh Seafood Joint Stock Company, said: The advanced technology for packaging mollusk products with MAP improved gas technology that the Company is applying has been transferred by Mylan Group since 2021 and has been maintained for 4 years. MAP technology has 3 main gas components: CO2 which inhibits bacterial activity, reduces pH concentration in food, maintains the freshness of food; O2 maintains cell respiration, fights oxidation, maintains the freshness of food and finally N2 gas acts like CO2 and prevents food oxidation.
Currently, the Company's ocean oyster intestine products have been certified as 3-star OCOP products, meeting food safety conditions and have stable output in major domestic markets with a consumption output of about 150 tons/year, revenue reaching 5 billion VND. This is also the only unit in Quang Ninh applying MAP improved gas technology to package oyster intestine products to supply to large supermarket chains in Hanoi and Saigon.
Mr. Hoang Van Thanh, Permanent Vice Chairman of Lien Hoa Ward People's Committee, said: Currently, Pacific oyster mollusk farming has created jobs for many local workers. This farming product, previously mainly farmed and shelled to get the intestines sold at traditional markets, but from 2021 up to now, Tat Thanh Seafood Joint Stock Company has boldly applied science and technology to invest in MAP improved gas technology to package Pacific oyster intestines, which has increased the value of local farming products and built the OCOP product brand.

With the innovative MAP gas technology that the Company has boldly invested in packaging mollusk products, it will help change the air composition inside the packaging with a mixture of N2, CO2, O2, so that oyster intestines can be preserved for 7 days at a temperature of 0-4 o C while still maintaining the original fresh quality. After that, the product is frozen at a temperature of -18 o C and can be preserved for 6 months. With the advanced packaging process, the Company's Ocean Oyster Intestines product was highly appreciated by the Quang Ninh Provincial Agricultural Products Evaluation Council in 2025 among the products participating in the competition.

In the 2025-2030 period, the province will continue to focus on implementing the goal of shifting the economic structure towards green, ecological, and circular value chains; building new rural areas towards modernity, inclusiveness, rich cultural identity associated with urban areas and adapting to climate change. The solution identified by the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Ninh for the fisheries sector is to develop in a modern sustainable direction, taking high-tech marine aquaculture as the spearhead. At the same time, forming concentrated marine aquaculture areas, investing in synchronous infrastructure, applying science and technology, building the Quang Ninh seafood brand to participate in national and international value chains. In addition, units that boldly apply scientific and technological advances to improve the quality and value of farmed aquatic products are also an effective direction to build the Quang Ninh seafood brand, while promoting existing potentials and strengths.
